Just one day after an out of control Toyota Prius made news headlines in California, another episode of unintended acceleration in a Prius vehicle has taken place in New York. The latest victim wasn’t so lucky, though, slamming her out of control 2005 Prius into a stone wall.
According to the latest reports, a 56-year old woman experienced sudden unintended acceleration in her 2005 Toyota Prius when she was exiting a drive in Harrison, New York on Tuesday. Her Prius “shot” across the street, plowing into a stone wall. The woman was injured and taken to a local hospital, but her injuries were reportedly non-life threatening.

Police are still investigating the incident, but it doesn’t appear as though faulty floor mats are to blame – the 2005 Prius in question had received its recall service, with the floor mats still zip-tied to the front seat when police arrived. No word on what might have caused the Prius to accelerate wildly.

Toyota has yet to comment on the situation, but the Japanese automaker will undoubtedly open an investigation involving the vehicle in question. Although Toyota is adamant that electronics are not the source of its unintended acceleration woes, it appears it has a problem beyond faulty floor mats.
