Houston-based Reliant Energy CEO David Crane, who drives a Tesla Roadster , says that the energy provider is moving steadily towards offering in-home and support services for owners of electric vehicles.
Crane told the Dallas Morning News that electric cars are starting “to become a factor in our planning.”

He said that the electricity provider would look to build both in-home plugs for owners of electric cars and to create remote charging stations.

“It wouldn’t be that expensive for Reliant to provide a network of them,” he told the paper.

Crane doesn’t describe himself as a car enthusiast, but said that his Tesla Roadster seemed like a natural choice for an energy company executive. He says that, although the car is “very, very, very, very fast,” he has what he calls “range anxiety” that the car might run out of charge and leave him stranded.
