Recently, Renault has been rumored to be considering the acquisition of everything from Volvo to Jaguar. Neither rumor proved to be true, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation. Recently, rumors surfaced that the French automaker might be considering buying Daimler Chrysler troubled Smart unit. Today, AFX News quoted Renault chief executive Carlos Ghosn as saying, “This segment doesn’t interest us.” He also said Renault’s development strategy through 2009 does not require any acquisitions. Recently, we reported Chrysler was under increasing pressure from investors to sell Smart.
