A rumor that is circulating around the European auto industry indicate that Renault is planning on adding no less than three all-electric models to its lineup before the end of the decade.

The first EV is expected to be a city car similar in size to the current two-door Twingo. It will be developed jointly with Germany's Daimler and its base price will lie in the vicinity of €10,000, or about $12,660. Unlike the city-dwelling Twizy it will be classified as a passenger car, meaning that it will be both able and allowed to go on the freeway.

Expected in 2014, the Twingo-sized EV will be the first of the three models to see the light that awaits at the end of a production line.

Next up in Renault's upcoming EV lineup is a minivan that is scheduled to bow in 2015. Details are scarce but it will be inspired by the Frendzy concept that bowed at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year.

To differentiate the yet-unnamed battery-powered minivan and the gasoline-powered Espace minivan, the two will ride on separate platforms.

Finally, the automaker is said to be working on an all-electric sports car that might spearhead the much-awaited revival of the Alpine brand. It will be the last of the three models and is not expected to land until 2016 at the very earliest.

Renault's lineup currently consists of three all-electric vehicles: the Kangoo Z.E., the Fluence Z.E. and the Twizy. A fourth model, dubbed ZOE, was presented in Geneva earlier this year and is scheduled to go on sale before the end of this year.
