At least one of GM’s Equinox-Terrain twins is set to receive some fancy new technology inside and out along with its mid-cycle refresh for 2012 according to sources familiar with the vehicle’s development.
General Motors first unveiled the now hot-selling GMC Terrain back with the 2010 model year, but with the third model year fast approaching there are several key technology upgrades in the works, according to dealer sources speaking with GMInsideNews. One of the key changes will be the addition of MyLink, an all-new infotainment system which is meant to offer similar features to Ford’s MyFord Touch.
MyLink will help to bring the Terrain’s fun technology in line with the competition, adding Pandora streaming radio, a new generation of Bluetooth connectivity and of course a touch screen interface. Other technology reported to be on the way is aimed at safety, including a blind spot awareness system, a collision avoidance system and a lane departure warning system, according to GMI.
GM is set to begin producing the 2012 Terrain on July 18, so expect an official list of changes to surface in the next month or so as dealers begin to take orders.
