Updating an earlier story, AM General – the originator of the Hummer brand and the current producer of the Hummer H2 – says that it is not interested in acquiring Hummer from General Motors in a joint purchase with China’s Chanfeng Motors.
Beijing’s Jinghua newspaper reporter earlier this week that Changfeng was exploring a possible joint venture with AM General to purchase the Hummer brand. However, Fort Wayne, Indiana’s AM General has since replied, saying that it has no interest in the Hummer brand.
According to WNDU, an NBC affiliate, AM General is in no such talks with Changfeng about the purchase of Hummer, with no deal even being considered.
Changfeng first approached GM about the possible purchase of Hummer back in March, with AM General only getting thrown into the rumor mill within the past few days.
