What they forget to mention is that these vehicles will be pulled on the back of a flatbed or tow truck just like their POS stablemates do on a constant, daily basis.

The A8 has good torque if you get the 6.0 W12. 428 lb-ft isn’t that bad at all.

Hey guys I know there’s much more to torque than numbers. The 4.2 FSI starts in down low, but nevertheless it’s still missing almost 50+ lb-ft that the competition has. The A8 is easily beaten by the vehicles I mentioned, which points to that fact ,even thought it weighs less than most.

Adequate? Easily, but luxury is not at all about adequacy.

nobody thinking about an $80,000 german luxury machine will ever go to HYUNDAI. i think the equus did so well with the people already in the HYUNDAI showrooms is because it is so much nicer than the rest of their fleet. It just impressed the CHEAP americans.

I’m not going to pretend to know any of the specs about the cars you mentioned, and I’m honestly too lazy to go look them up. But I have to agree with idrinorbarsaku, just the torque numbers mean nothing when not in context.

For example! I have a 30-40ish horsepower vehicle that can and DOES outrun 200-300 horsepower vehicles on a daily basis.

Whats the catch? I’m on a 300 pound motorcycle. They’re in 3000-4000 pound cars/trucks.

Smart move by Audi. They see the writing on the wall for the A8 now that the Hyundai Equus is coming on the market, and there is no way the A1 is ever gonna compete with the Yaris or Spectra.

Just so the new A8 gets more torque. The 325 lb-ft isn’t bad but it’s pretty light when you conisder the competition. That’s about the only thing to improve on. It’s otherwise excellent.

LS460- 367 lb-ft
S550- 391 lb-ft
750i- 450 lb-ft
XJ8 (2010 5.0L)- 380 lb-ft
A8- 325 lb-ft

In a big saloon, torque is important.

if audi messes up that A5 sportback, then it is going to be very difficult for them in the market, seeing as that is the most attention gathering sedan. If, however, it is amazing, as most audi’s are, then the brand will really take off on american shores.
BTW, i’d take any audi

Actually, the A5 Sportback will be a more interesting reveal as something out of the ordinary.
I’m sure the new A8 will be the same conservative, boring, stretched version of an A4 that it always has been. It’s the wallflower of the luxo-barge market..

I’ve never cared for the Audi brand because of the snobbery associated with it; however, Audi does embody automotive excellence and I believe if anything is worth doing in life then Do it with Excellence in mind and this would say with that kind of effort then Audi is an overachiever. I wish Ford Motor which is Starting to show True Greatness will continue out with Great models like the new Taurus SHO will show case future examples like this in the Lincoln Brand which should be a World Luxury vehicle I’d say the new LincolnMKS is a step in the right direction.

I can’t wait to see how the A8 will look like! I can’t imagine anything less than amazing when comparing the new audi’s to the new bmw’s and mercedes’ lineup. They are the one’s who actually haven;t been disappointing in there designs…so far at least!
