The Audi A1 and all-new A8 may not be in line for a Frankfurt Motor Show reveal, but the Germany automaker will reportedly use the September show to takes the wraps off its RS3 hot hatch. The RS3 promises to take the already potent S3 to the next performance level.
According to Auto Motor & Sport, Audi will use the Frankfurt show to unveil its high-performance RS3 model. Work on the RS3 has been ongoing for several months now, as evidenced by our spy photos. Audi board member Michael Dick also confirmed a hotter version of the S3 was under consideration earlier this year.
At the heart of the RS3 will be an Audi TT RS-sourced 2.5L five-cylinder turbocharged engine. Tuned to produce 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, the RS3 should be able to easily scoot from 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds, with the electronic nannies kicking in at about 155 mph.
In order to keep that extra power in check, look for the RS3 to also feature an upgraded suspension as well as more powerful brakes.
