this is all bullsthit. how in the f@#k can you compare a mustang to a corvette. the corvette was desingned to handle and the mustang was desinged to be a souped up family car. good enough to get groceries in a bit of a hurry. if i was gonna spend alot of money i would wait for the challenger to come out. you cant lose. you get true retro styling and a powerful powerplant.

hey Dumbasses… the mustang is a different type of car than the corvette.. theres NO reason to compare them .. the vette is a freaking TWO SEATER..

the mustang is NOT a sportscar.. it is a muscle car and the other car to compare it to is the camaro.. NOT THE VETTE…. (price comparison anyone?)
even the GT500.. its built to be a different type of car. A fast car with room for more than TWO people, and more affordable.. if you say people are paying blah blah for the shelby that is the MARKUP.. not ford’s price and this is consumer driven.. (Look at the markup on the z06,btw.) then talk price comparison.

The ONLY thing that the vette’s and stangs have in common is they are both faster cars than the average.. so people compare them? Thats just stupid.. I got an idea.. lets start comparing the vette to the ferrari enzo how about that?

You people go ON AND ON on BOTH SIDES ford fans, chevy fans.. and you try to say the other side sucks this and that.. when they fact is they both make good cars.
I prefer to shop for a car that fits my needs and wants and I pick which one I like. You people sound like nine year olds. If you want to compare the mustang to something.. wait for the new camaro and see what mustang has out once the camaro is out. Then compare away. Fact is they will both be good cars, and probably very close in performance. So look at em both, pick what fits your taste.
But stop being morons.

Small volumn is why so many foriegn cars are worth more than they ever should be! Folks think they are great because of their prices, but its only due to small volumn. All BOSS Mustangs sell in six digits and many Shelby Mustangs sell in seven digits. Lets face it, for the money the American Corvette and Mustang are world beaters! We Americans should be proud of both.

Hey bobo, You should get out of that earth mover you’re driving and drive the new SOHC V6 mustang. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. It’s as fast or faster than the 80’s/90’s 5.0 and early 4.6 mustang GTs. As for the Corvettes, The new Z06 is the best value in Supercar class in the world. The standard C6 w/Z51 rocks. But vettes are 2 seater cars with almost no storage and slammed to the ground like a racecar. And the Old C4 vettes from the Late 70’s thru the ‘96 are pretty darn junky cars by todays standards. The New Mustang is a nice improvement over the previous ones from the past, which for the money can still be fun affordable reasonable handling cars. Best value = New ’stang GT with over 300 hp on 87 octane – YEAH BABY! I think this New Boss 302 could be the one to own. Superchargers make too much heat. Which by the way vette ZO6 427 does too, so wear your asbetos pants on hot days Z06 drivers (same for you Viper boys). Shelby GT 500, New Dodge Challenger, Probably New Camaro (if it ever comes out) and recently dead GTO – TOO Damn heavy!! Lighten up Detroit. The new V6 Mustang would be incredible if it weighed 400 lbs less.

john, u just compared the best mustang to the worst corvette, how about we compare the best corvette, which is the halltech vette to the steeda. vette does 0-60 in 1.04 secs, i know steeda doesnt come close to that. o and the halltech has a top speed of 275mph, next time maybe u should compare cars that are at least equal in some way

Anyone that compares the Mustang to a Corvette either doesn’t pay attention to muscle cars, or doesn’t get out of the house much! The Corvette retails at $50,000+ while the Mustang retails around $36,000+. That should tell you something. If you want a comparison between Ford and Chevy, I’d say put the GT40 against the Corvette…:p

Dustin are you crazy? The new steeda mustang even though limited will smoke the corvette.The new vette runs mid to high 11s but the stang runs low 11s. I hate small cars but I cant help wanting a mustang. They sound good and look great. Kinda funny how its always about the stangs vs. corvettes even though they were meant to compete with camaros and trans ams. Just my two cents.

Ok not just to tell ya a 03′ 04′ Terminator SVT Cobra will perform equally to a base corvette and you can put a few hundred dollars worth of groceries in the trunk, and the kids in the back seat if needed.

Another thing im confused about though is why compare a Mustang to a Corvette? The Mustang is a Pony Car and the Corvette is at least a Muscle maybe super car. The Mustang never was and never be a better performance car than the Corvette. Two different breeds that cant be mixed. I guess since the Camaro can no longer be used as a benchmark to gauge the Mustang. In a way the comparison is a compliment to the Mustang.

On the sliding of the road thing thats actually true. I flung my 96 off the road and into a tree due to water. Its mainly on the V6’s since they only have one rotating drive wheel in the rear. If the other wheel lifts you tend to spin in 180 or until you hit a tree. Thats just a draw back of the car.

This boss looks awsome, i was kind of hoping that they would change the rims though.
And mustangs dont handle that bad i mean, their has to be a lot of rain for that small pony car to slide of the road. (This my opinion about mustange V6’s i hate them a lot for some apparent reason, everytime i see a v6 stang when it is suppose to be a V8 makes me want to take a Hummer and run it over)

i will admit a am not a mustang fan mainly because my friend thinks a mustang can outperform and is faster than the corvette which is complete BS since the mustang will never come close to the vette, and the vette is my alltime favorite car and itll stay that way. so because of it i’ve made a vow that ill never like mustangs. But then again it doesnt matter to me because i’ve sat in several mustangs, and it did not at all appear to be a daily driver, OR a performance or muscle car for that matter, the interior is worse than any vette ive sat in, the seats are uncomfortable, and those 2 facts cancel its possibility to be a daily driver. and it certainly can not perform anywhere near as good as the corvette, even the cobra cant. So basicly the only catagory itll fall into is useless.

Ok Ive owned two sn95 framed mustangs a 97 and an 01. My Mother now drives this new s197(?) frame its an 06. These three cars all show what fords major focus has been with the Mustang. Its not power, displacement or a high cost for something like a 5.4Lv8 or as in the 00 BOSS a V10 based of the Modular engine system. The Mustang from 64.5 till today was meant to be a daily driver. If you think im wrong thats fine but from conception till now the GT’s and Cobras have never been the cars that make ford its money on Mustang. These special series cars and high performance cars serve as a form of advertisement for the v6 daily drivers. Now as far as I know the Mustang has the majority of the time outsold the Camaro and the other cars in its class. Not becuase of the perforcmance or displacement of the GTS and shelbys and SVTs but because even if you dont want a race car the Mustang works for your daily routine. Its always been a small but roomy and comfortable car(unless your jammed in the backseat)to drive. Even with the 6 cylinder engine its not underpowered. Look at the End Camaros! your sitting on the floor which is barely hovering over the ground. You fall into one not get in. So as ford did in the past with the GT’s and Shelbys of the 60’s they are making special models to hype intrest in the public to sell units. Lots and lots of v6 mustangs are on the road because of the lineage and style of the car. So Ford is just doing what it knows works with the mustang sales wise they are keeping intrest and incetives up to keep mustangs leaving the showrooms.

As far as the BOSS goes ford has never had a large production number on these. So i hope to keep these cars as valuble as their predicesors that ford will limit the production run. GM is doing it with the Soltice and the Saturn version of the Sultice. Mopar is too with limiting the Challanger. With Dodge limiting the Challanger im slightly saddened since it will not be in comparison to the mustang with its size and chasis.

the only reason the REAL boss is worth money now is because there were not a huge number of them made, and there most likely will be of this car becuz people are idiots and think that they are getting somethign that somewhat resembles the REAL boss, when all there is, is a special paintjob and some more horsepower.

I was there. I like the Mustang. For the money it is unique machine, V8, 300bhp, stick shift that works and RWD. Optional red accent interior. BANGIN!

I also cross shopped the ‘06 GTO.

Good cars are were you find them, it’s just they are hard to find in US automakers showrooms.

I like the Vette as well and most Cadillacs. GM as a car manufacturer needs help. The 300C and Charger could be in m y garage.

I’m no hater, but GM and Ford still make alot of ****. A lot.

There was a Cobalt parked outside of my office today. What a crappy interior. Go look at a Mazda 3. It is a ton nicer for the same price.

For those of you who think there are too many Mustang variations, this is how it was back in the glory days of the muscle cars (late 60’s early 70’s). It worked then and it will probably work again. Besides, this Boss nicely fills the gap between the GT and GT500. I’m sure it will be less costly for those who can’t dish out 50 to 60k on a GT500.

Hey, GL, why does ford need a high displacement engine in the Stang? 300hp is reasonable for a GT. I suppose you think it’d be better if it were a 300hp 351? HIgher displacement, right? If you think displacement is everything, then fine, stick with Chevy. To me they seem to think bigger displacement solves any problem. As long as it’s a V8 with a decent amount of horsepower, I’ll go with it if it’s in the right car. Also, if you read up on the new HEMI, it’s mostly a selling name. HOT ROD did an article on it when it was new, and the new HEMI hardly compares to the old ones. The old ones took full advantage of the HEMI combustion chamber by filling it with a domed piston for higher compression. THe new ones, if I remember correctly, have either flat top or dished pistons. I, personally, would rather have a 32 valve V8 than a HEMI. By the way, is the Chevy 427 in the current Camaro? Oh wait, there is no current Camaro, sorry.

The mustangs are overpriced and under powered like the Porches have always been. can’t Ford grasp the concept of cubic inches ? what is this 4.6 crap supposed to be as Chevy has now gone to a 427 again can’t ford figure this out ? I will stick with Chevy and possibly with the new challenger coming out as Mopar also seems to have their act together like Chevy. Its a 425hp hemi what could be wrong with that ? Bravo…. and Ford pull your head out…
