Volkswagen executive has reportedly given the green light to the four-door Bugatti 16C Galibier. The Galibier made its debut at a private event during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
According to two inside sources, Bugatti-parent VW has officially given the production nod to the 16C Galibier sedan. The high-dollar luxury sedan will sit atop the Bugatti range, besting the $1.3 million Veyron 16.4 with a sticker price of $1.4 million.
Like the Veyron, the 16C Galibier will be powered by a 16-cylinder engine. However, that engine will be de-tuned for the Galibier, producing a more manageable 800 horsepower.
Just 300 examples of the Galibier will be built at VW’s Molsheim, France facility. The Molsheim factory will require retooling to produce the Galibier, which will push production until late 2013 or early 2014.
