Actualy deantj, a huge majority of scientists around the globe agree that global warming is indeed a reality. It’s total ignorance and naivity to say that it’s not, the effects are right in front of our eyes, and the fact of the matter is that almost all scientists agree its happening. Yes, you can find a few that disagree, but they’re 1/1,000. God damnit man, look at the facts, I can’t understand why people live in denial about stuff like this, it’s science, it’s proven, this isn’t a guessing game, it has been PROVEN, if you want me to find the info for you, I will, but this is the 21st century, open your eyes and see what’s happening around you, or if you want, I guess you can climb back into your little hole and close your eyes, and pretend like it’s all a myth like the conservatives would like you to believe.

A4, I don’t see why people should attack BMW for putting a v8 into the m3. There’s actually a reason for it… performance. It’s a sports car and it should be fast.

The difference here is: how much freakin’ power do you need in a damn suv/crossover? There’s no purpose! Most of these are going to be driven by soccer moms that don’t haul trailers around behind them everyday. Besides, this thing isn’t something you should be driving the same way as you’d probably drive an m3.

For what the Acadia is, I honestly don’t think they need anything more than a v6.

Oh and while you at it GM, I think we need to see a couple of new Hummer models because the lineup is a bit short. How about something like a new H1 with a the 16 cylinder engine from the Caddy concept a while back? Or an extended length H2 EL with 7 passenger seating?

Here’s a first, how about a class first 10 passenger SUV? Something with maybe 4 rows of seating, 7 access doors and dual axles in the rear. I know a few trophy wives that would look so sexy driving around in one of those! it would be an Elite class of buyers who appreciate the size, utility and superior visibility of such a truck.

Go GM! More Gas guzzling V8’s for the road, wooho! Love it! They should make the V8 standard for all the Lambda’s and then they should rebadge the model for Pontiac, Saab, Chevy and even Cadillac. Dump the stupid weak-assed V6 and put the V8 in everything!

^^What you said about options is a good point. GM offers more variants and choices than most other automakers, and it’s BECAUSE of that (not in spite of it) that some people prefer to buy GM vehicles. Case in point: I looked at a Subaru Outback a few years ago, and the only way I could get leather seats & a 6-CD changer was to buy a whole bunch of other crap I didn’t want/need at a much higher cost. GM usually lets you pick & choose as you desire when ordering a vehicle (and yes, people do actually order vehicles). This helps customers get exactly what they want. What’s wrong with that?!

so its perfectly acceptable for BMW to take an efficient inline-6 and dump it from their new M3 for a V8, yet its wrong that GM is giving you the OPTION of getting a more powerful engine? Shut the hell up.
im sure a V8 acadia will still get better mileage than a V8 Tahoe/Yukon of equal specs. And god forbid GM gives you an option, dont complain, and dont buy it if you dont want it. Like everyone else with half a brain has stated, Denali lines are luxo-cruisers and no self respecing person would want a powerless one. Thats what buick is for.

GM’s big problem is that it’s got 8 brands to feed. That’s how it got its gas guzzling reputation to begin with. Whether you think they badge engineer or not, they have a lot of versions of the same type of vehicle. Example: All of the GMT360s (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier, 9-7x) are all basically the same car. The GMT800-turned-900s (Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Suburban, Yukon XL, ESV) are all basically the same car. That said, however, they are perceived as being different cars, when in reality they are just different interpretations of a Trailblazer or a Tahoe. So when ALL of these vehicles aren’t very efficient, instead of GM having 2 inefficient trucks, they are seen as having 10 distinct, inefficient trucks. With more brands and high demand comes the need to ramp up your volume, hence more of them on the road, hindering the image. And I didn’t even mention the pickups. Throw in an otherwise inconsequential H2 and GM becomes an easy target and the poster child for gas guzzlers, when in reality Ford, Dodge, and Toyota all have equally inefficient models (Expedition, Navigator, Durango, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Sequoia, LX, GX). Trouble is, it’s easier to generalize GM cars as gas guzzlers than to use your heads and realize they’re no more guilty than anyone else.

The most exciting piece of information here is that this V8 will be one of GM’s new “Ultra V8″ engines. The “Ultra” is supposed to replace the ancient Northstar. GM is learning quickly, and this engine should have all the latest technology. With direct injection and active fuel management, this engine should be relatively efficient for its size.

I find it ludicrus that ppl complain about the milage this thing gets if u want eficency then buy urself a light small car. I don’t think u can get cars in the ford fiesta or opel corsa size in the usa, but if u want fuel economy thats what u gotta have. anyways toyta is not the bloody holy grail of automobiles. I am curently studying Automotive engineering with motorsports as my university degree, and half of my lecturers take the piss out of the prius. they say its a piece of junk that just seems eco friendly due to marketing but that it is actually much more wasteful than even a hummer.

Why do so many people care about what other people get for gas milage? If I can afford to fill it up, then I can drive it. If your s60 gets better mileage, so what? You probably drive more than I do in a month, so you actually CONSUME MORE than I do! Sheesh!
