Whether or not GMC would be bringing the Granite concept to market seemed like a no-brainer after the handsome vehicle was first unveiled, but a series of rumors have since suggested both the demise and the procured future of the car on multiple occasions.

Now, according to inside sources at General Motors, the smallest-ever GMC utility vehicle is back on the production timetable and is expected to come to market as either a 2013, or 2014 model year vehicle, according to Motor Trend.

Also apparently confirmed is the inclusion of the suicide-style doors which are found on the concept, as they are apparently going to make it to dealer lots as a standard style.

The Granite rides on the same C-segment platform as GM’s recent small-car offerings such as the Cruze and Volt, and the concept utilized the same 1.4-liter turbo-four that is found under the hood of the Cruze, meaning its powertrain will could possibly remain the same into production. It is also possible that GM could offer a Volt-powered version of the Granite as well.
