NEW FUTURE MARKET
  • Report: Hyundai cuts U.S. workforce by 46

    By Drew Johnson

Hyundai was one of just three automakers to post a sales gain during the month of January – the other two being Hyundai’s Kia division and Subaru – but that hasn’t stopped the Korean automaker from laying off some of its U.S. workforce.
According to an Automotive News report, Hyundai Motor America laid off 46 employees this week. Although that number doesn’t sound very significant – especially when other automakers are laying off workers by the tens of thousands – that represents over 8 percent of Hyundai’s 550 person-strong workforce. The majority of the lay offs were from regional sales and marketing offices.

Hyundai failed to comment on the layoffs, but some Hyundai employees indicated the number of firings would have been far worse if the company didn’t post such strong January numbers.

Hyundai’s sales jumped 14.3 percent in January – totaling 24,512 units – while overall industry sales were down more than 37 percent.

      WOW 550 person-strong workforce.
I hope they don’t let anyone else go.
That many people out of work could really hurt the U.S.

GM uses foreign parts on their cars. GM builds vehicles outside the US then imports them into America. GM is supporting foreign economies What do they deserve?

With the government giving GM tax dollars, tax payers are indirectly supporting foreign economies through GM. Do all tax payers deserve to lose their jobs?

You don’t need a lot of marketing guys when your product is outselling the competition. Their assurance program alone is selling cars.

Need More Kool Aid from GM, a lot of these plants that you say deserve to die are start ups in small towns. They often move their b/c smaller town governments are easier to work with. If a town’s sole source of income goes away, that means there are less tax dollars to fund poorly run General Motors. I’m sure you’re glad to see a little girl’s father lose his income. Income that he can’t buy her bike made by an American manufacturer.

The sole source of this economic trouble is the direct result of the housing industry. Through poor and corrupt leadership of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and Congress’s blind eye the American economy has become a giant sink hole that we’re expected to fund.

The economy takes a dump, and GMAC who was also heavily involved in writing high risk mortgages was stung. For some reason GMAC felt that had to limit auto loans based on this. Its secondary loan market, Nuvell also stopped writing notes.

I don’t know if you’re playing around. In fact, I hope you are. I don’t see how anyone can be so blind.

BUY WHAT YOU WANT AND CAN AFFORD TO BUY. ITS YOUR PATRIOTIC DUTY.

      Need more oil for GM,

The computer you use to troll Left Lane News is built almost entirely out of foreign components. It’s unAmerican for you to use it. It’s your patriotic duty to destroy it. Be sure to use an American made hammer to accomplish this task.

      My tablecloth’s from Malayisia
My belt buckle’s from the Amazon

You know, this shirt I wear comes from the Philippines
And the car I drive is a Chevrolet
It was put together down in Argentina
By a guy making thirty cents a day.

Well, it’s sundown on the union
And what’s made in the USA
      Sure was a good idea
‘Til greed got in the way.

You finally got what you want. Just because some guy is richer than you, you want to see him suffer. In our culture, the word ‘corporation’ has become synonymous with the concept of evil. The politicians have heard you.

So does this mean that Hyundai lets all their employees have a car for 90 days until they find a new job?

Over the past five decades, they have taxed this and taxed this. The corporate tax rate is 35%. The USA is no longer the leader in the world in economic freedom. What business man would want to business here? …

You know what I had a long diatribe lined up, but I’m going to keep it a secret and go home. But take this with you: A retail-only sales tax would have hundreds of manufacturers lined up on our shores to manufacture here. Eliminate all taxes except a fair tax.

The Montgomery Alabama final assembly plant alone employs over 3000 workers.

Perhaps there are 550 people at Hyundai USA HQ in the executive offices and regional offices.

Who knew the US just borrowed a Trillion dollars of China for some pretty worthless stock bonds? What’s next, a Hyundai in every driveway?

I don’t believe numbers provided by LLN. There is a Hyundai plant in Alabama pumping out Sonata and Santa Fe and any plant will require more then 550 workers. The sales and marketing offices may have only 550 (well 504 now) employees, but total number of people working for Hyundai is much larger in US.

And again I agree with NMOGM: it is unpatriotic to work for company owned by foreigners. NMOGM you are working for a company owned by former KGB agent. The largest GM shareholder is former KGB agent and Putin’s friend. That is probably why GM bought factory in Russia in November of 2008, while bleeding money and asking US government for bailout. NMOGM – you are communist ****sucker. I hope you like the taste of their juice.
