best thing GM could do is stand up, say something along the lines of “we had this brand, and it was good for some time, people liked it, and it was an american idol in its on right. But times have changed, and thus, we close the chapter.”

That would be fair and square, and might actually contribute to their credibility…

how can you accuse mahindra of not having the balls to run hummer when gm is trying desperately to sell it to anyone who will buy?

this sucks for gm. the brand has such a negative stigma associated with it, they might have to simply fold it to save themselves the operating costs. at this point it looks like no one’s gonna buy it.

This article says nothing about Tata. And reality is, Tata (the man) got a lot of crap for buying the Brit panty waste that is LR and Jag. Something about tata does not have any experience in that arena and both brands are money losers. So I doubt they will buy anything of questionable value in near future.
Meanwhile,
Mahindra’s “lean warior strateegy” is apparently to introduce knock offs of Toyota’s 1981 pick up. God forbid they risk tarnishing that.

GM got themselves in quite a pickel with bringing up Hummer for residential sale. Now after investing however many billions into it, they are left with nothing but a rejected shell of it’s former self.

The image of gas guzzling pigs is something that GM seriously needs to shake right now so they’d probably be best off selling it for a massive loss, or even donating it just to eliminate the deadweight.

I dont see the logic in this article. GM says it has interest in Hummer. Someone else says Tatra is interested. Tatra says it is not interested. So therefore Hummer has no interest? How does that make sense?

Why buy something that is so easy to copy? Ruler-straight styling, outdated chassis engineering and appalling build quality are things that India does very well already. The brand’s value has imploded in the world’s largest auto markets over the last 12 months. The final cachet: a whole bunch of pension and healthcare liabilities from GM’s ridiculous workforce.
