I gave up on Jaguar when they put a 121 mph speed governor on their 2004 models. I first noticed it on the XJ8 and then I heard that they put one on the S-Type as well. For the reason that the car won't go as fast as a Hyundai Accent, I won't put my money towards a Jag at the present time.

As one of the few s Type owners who happens to enjoy my S Type immensely! I would just like to know what the damn thing will look like!(I assume something along the RDX platform). So I can decide whether to continue to support the marque or move on to something more Teutonic! This stupid secrecy over new designs only alienates loyal customers! We are the ones buying the cars not the dealers!

As long as Ian Callum remembers that a Jaguar S-type is a ‘closed coupled sporting saloon’. And that for a long time, Jaguars were not retromobiles.

i'm glad that Jaguar isn't losing its identity in favor of becoming popular for a couple of years until the fad wears off. Without a real identity, you could never win over ANY buyers in the long haul.

Trends come and go and recycle, (muscle cars anyone?) and sooner or later Jaguar class will be back.

Jaguar ain't exactly the type of company to surprise you. Think of the current version with a few mods and you have the new version

"made worser" Sorry, that made me laugh.

I say we hold our judgements until we actually SEE the car. Writing it off before you even know what it is, is foolish.

Ford "mishandled" Jaguar? Without Ford's massive injections of cash, Jaguar would have ended up like Rover a decade ago. If they've made a mistake--and I don't think it could really have been foreseen--it was allowing Jaguar's designers to keep their distinctively British style while the fashion trend went Teutonic, a la BMW's take on Rolls-Royce. But Jaguar will probably never be able to outdo the Japanese luxury marques in mimicry of the Germans, so they'll probably never recover in the US.

No one who likes what is essentially a German Taxi is going to be cross shoping something that is more like a modern stylish coupe.
The S class is a much bigger car than the XJ and the Jaguar was not done during the current design trend of looking modern. The S type will be.

Doesn't stand a chance because it has one year before the new Mercedes E-Class comes out. Thats not enough time to make a sucess of a car which will probably bring nothing new to this sector. If its lucky it won't look half bad as the current version.

For anyone that disagree's, take the current XJ as an example which was made of aluminium but after a year was topped by the S-Class even though it was lighter and should have been better but wasn't. That flopped with the aluminium advantage, this has nothing. Things are made worser when you think mercedes will make it look like the CLS and are aiming at taking down the 5 Series. Good luck is all I can say

I think this will be Jag's make it or break it car. I hope they have done their homework and will have a homerun with this car. I would hate to see Jaguar go under since Ford has mishandled it for sometime now....
