With the North American auto market finally showing signs of recovery, analysts are expecting stronger production numbers for at least the next two quarters. North American automobile production is expected to steadily increase over the next six months.
According to a new report by CSM Worldwide, North American vehicle production is expected to total 2,921,100 units in the second quarter, representing a 64 percent increase over the same period a year earlier. CSM predicts production will slow slightly to 2,855,245 units during the third quarter, but that figure still represents a 21 percent improvement of Q3 2009.
Of the major automakers, Chrysler will see the sharpest increase in North American production. Chrysler’s North American production slowed to just 87,896 units during the second quarter of 2009 – largely due to the automaker’s bankruptcy filing – but that totoal will skyrocket nearly 400 percent to 345,600 vehicles in Q2 2010.
Due to similar circumstances, General Motors is slated for the second largest production increase, with its North American production expected to rally 82 percent to 716,100 cars.
Ford , Toyota and Honda will also ramp up production during the second quarter, with CSM expecting increases between 36 and 38 percent. Nissan will boost production even further, increasing 50 percent.
