THE SUPERCHARGER YIELDS LESS THAN 30 PERCENT INCREASE IN POWER. THAT SUCKS! TOO MANY CATYLITIC CONVERTERS OR SOMETHING!

That's funny ... for someone that misunderstands a post, then argues points that have nothing to do with that post, and then, like a suck, starts calling people names (and lies about it) ... you should have given up from the start.

You are a suck, you are a liar, you are illiterate, you don't know nearly enough about cars. Have a good night.

^^Dude, I don't care if you choose the nissan or not. I DON'T CARE. Im not going to argue with you. Obviously you don't understand why I mentioned my car in the first post. Your hard-headed and it's easy to see that.
Your the type of person who feeds on arguments, and you get off on it. So at this point im going to stop arguing with you.

"I know those with whom I associate ALL think your car is a performance monster but fails in the looks department."

---I agree with this aspect 100%. The EVO gets MAD RESPECT for its performance - last time I was at the BMW dealer, their was an EVO on the lot and when I pointed it out, the salesman even noted that it "could run circles around the M3." For a crappy-ass looking car, that is MAD RESPECT and should be enough to satisfy any EVO owner.

As far as looks, it is a hideous-looking vehicle to me and makes Subarus seem attractive in comparison. The new EVO concept looks WAY WAY better and will definitely help out in the looks department but to try and defend the looks of the current Evo is very difficult. To me, its more like a Turbo Dodge Neon - a fast car with very pedestrian style. And to me, the performance as GREAT as it is, just does not do enough to justify its looks. The 350Z is a far worse performer but its shape is cohesive and attractive. Yet I still respect EVOs and EVO owners for their performance-driven choice...

Implulsive,
You say im biased but little do you know im definately not. Before I baught my car 3 months ago, I was considering 3 other cars...a G35 Coupe, LS2 GTO, & a Lexus IS350. Three VERY different cars from different manufacturers. I don't dislike Nissan, as one of my favorite cars is still the 300ZX.
As far as the "decade behind" comment you made about the design of the Evo. That just shows you the knowledge you have on cars is very little. Major update of the Evo was in 2001 with the VII. The VIII & the IX are updates of that model. We're in the year 2006 meaning that is far from a decade. Maybe you should go back to school and relearn how to count to ten.
I realize "those with whom you associate ALL think the Evo fails in the looks department. But then again, how can you get a good opinion from the local chess club?
If you scroll up you'll see that I never called anyone names because they didn't choose my car, your just making assumptions and you look like an ass for it. Again, I've owned American, German, & now Japanese cars in my life, AWD, RWD, & FWD, so trust me when I say that Im FAR from biased when it comes to cars.

just read in some car magazine test (from the novidem web site) of the "old" 350z with the novidem supercharger: 0-100km/h in 5.0s vs. 6.3s of the unmodified car. this was even without any fancy spoiler or special tyres. so the "marketing" numbers could as well be as low as 4.5s...

for the peole wondering about the on/off switch for the supercharger: it's a magnetic coupling and can be operated at any speed/rpm. the supercharger is from the swiss manufacturer novidem (http://novidem.ch/). I invite everybody to read again the quite interesting original article here on LLN. cheers!

"Andre", lighten up loser. It's just a car.

Idiot, I never stated anything about facts. I never stated your car was/wasn't cheaper. I never stated anything about its level of performance. I never stated anything about its weight.

Dummy, I stated that your car is, bluntly, unattractive compared to a 350Z and given a choice I would choose the latter, period. I believe you are biased and that's my opinion. Most mothers wouldn't admit their baby is ugly despite it being FACT. And I seriously question your comment "a great majority of people don't" think your car looks outdated ... show me some statistics where you can back that up ... I know those with whom I associate ALL think your car is a performance monster but fails in the looks department.

I don't care whether the Evolution has 100 less HP but runs .2 seconds faster because of its AWD. Your arrogance and ignorance (not to mention your bias) at 11:17 am is clouding your view of objectivity, and calling people names because they didn't choose your car is what is PATHETIC, jackass.

This is a great idea for US sales because it has been MUCH too long since there was a 300+ hp Z, and a $40K price point would help lessen the blow of the eventual $75K Skyline GT-R to follow.

Xymox,
Check the 1/4mile trap speeds on the IX's and speak for yourself. No AWD drivetrain loss here.
WRX on the other hand is a different story.

Impulsive, your arrogance is repulsive.
Im not biased, my best friend had a 350z that we drove around in all the time. He didn't like it, and neither did I, long before I ever drove an Evo. Don't assume Im biased because I own one. Im just stating that the performance numbers post(0-60) don't make sense according to the power/weight of the vehicle. I also said they should compare both the Evo and the 350z GT-S, considering the power/performance/price are pretty equal.
Fine, you might think the exterior looks on my car are outdated, a great majority of people don't. In the end, the Mitsubishi Evolution is arguably one the the best performance for the money vehicles to ever roll off an assembly line. Many facts to back that up.

Yea! That Falcon was pretty cool!

Any way, the Z hasn't always been the lightest car on the road. While the early renditions were nice and light, the 300Z was a good car but portly and eventually needed the twin turbos it got to make some decent performance.
Typically Nissan will start roddin up the Z shortly before putting it to rest for a few years. You guys that really want one better snatch one up soon.

I guess they have to offer up something while we all wait for the new GT-R.

And enough about Knight Rider. The on/off supercharger is straight off the Ford Falcon in Mad Max. Which, I think, is much cooler.

"Andre", you're obviously going to be biased because you own an Evolution, and after spending that kind of money you're not going to necessarily have an objective opinion.

Objectively, given the option to buy either, I'd buy the Nissan. Maybe when the new Evolution arrives I'll reconsider but until then your car's exterior is a decade behind.

Andre Neves, you're EVO is also AWD. So obviously you'll have better grip---better0-60 time. However, i'd like to see the results from up top (highway, etc..) vs your EVO. Drivetrain (loss due to AWD) would probably send the 350Z GT-S ahead of you. I own a WRX, I know all to well about AWD drivetrain loss at higher speeds.

I'd like to see this against my car in a comparison
Mitsubishi Evolution IX MR vs. Nissan 350Z GT-S.
It'll probably happen on Best Motoring(staged of course like all their other races).

I'd like to see a comparison between this, the Shelby GT500, Corvette, and the 335i coupe since they're all in the same price range and 2-doors

382HP and 0-60 in 4.8!? LOL
Im sorry, but I hope they're being conservative about those numbers, because I think they're pathetic. Did they add like another 500lbs to the car or something?
My EVO IXMR with 286 stock horses and a curb weight of alittle over 3,200lbs does 0-60 in 4.6s. And I believe the 350z weighs about the same. It must have some serious traction problems or something to be putting out numbers like that with almost 400hp.

This is great news, keep the price low at $40k-$42k and these will fly off the shelves.
