Toyota has already confirmed that one sporty offering will be making an appearance at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show – the highly-anticipated Subaru joint-venture FT-86 Concept – but a production version of another Toyota sports car will likely outshine the FT-86.
According to Automotive News, Toyota will unveil a near-production version of its Lexus LF-A two-seat sports car at the Tokyo show. The LF-A has been under development for several years now, pushed back by performance shortfalls and the global economic downturn.

Power for the two-seat LF-A supercar will come from a high-revving V10. The ten-pot mill is believed to displace 4.8L, producing at least 500 horsepower. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via a paddle-shift transmission. Toyota set an internal goal of a sub 7 minute 30 second Nürburgring lap time for the LF-A, but it remains to be seen in the car achieved that goal.

Pricing for the LF-A also remains a mystery, but it will definitely carry a six-figure price tag. Some estimates have pegged the LF-A as a $250,000 vehicle.

Check back for more details as the Tokyo Motor Show kicks off in just a few short weeks.
