In Renault’s latest move to recruit top talent to its revitalized design department, General Motors designer Anthony Lo has reportedly accepted the post as VP of Exterior Design at the French automaker. Lo, whose best-known design is the Saab Aero X show car, will work under former Mazda designer Laurens van den Acker at Renault.
Lo held the position of Director of Advanced Design at GM, where he worked primarily on the automaker’s European operations. The Saab Aero X (pictured) is considered his crown achievement with the General, although he was also responsible for the Opel Flextreme concept that debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Aero X signaled a change in design language direction for Saab that was echoed in the automaker’s production 2011 9-5 sedan.

GM has confirmed Lo’s departure, but Renault has not issued a statement regarding the rumored hire. The French manufacturer nabbed noted designer van den Acker from Mazda last April as it has attempted to assemble a first-class design studio.
