Here’s hoping that Toyota is just another victim of the onslaught that is “The American Revolution” and those traitors get what’s coming to them. They should come on over to Michigan sometime. Let us decorate their new Toyotas for them.

btw: What about the Honda CR-V front end? Just our luck, they run forever so we get to look at ‘em drive by…at least it looks good from other angles.

The state of the car market and its relation to market share has always perplexed me. To me, GM is doing much better because their lineup of cars are becoming less boring than they used to be.

Alternatively, Toyota makes a lot of very boring cars that don’t handle very well because they have very soft suspensions and FWD. Amazingly, people seem to like this more and while I prefer superior build quality myself I still can’t justify buying a more well built vehicle that does less for the driver than a comparatively exciting product that has some reliability and quality issues.

I just don’t understand why General Motors got the message that people want more exciting products and loses money and yet Toyota flatly ignores those requests and keeps reaping profits and builds more factories!

Amazing.

However, with everything I see happening at the american brands they shouldn’t pack their bags just yet.

As for their quality.. how is the sludge suit going? How many cars did they recall this year? 1.5 million or something lmao..

Facts are they are set to import a record number of cars in the US this year.

Nobody’s going to believe that you see so many imports broken down all over the place and all their owners running to you just to tell you that they wish they owned a gm vehicle. It just doesn’t happen. Not in the real world, buddy.

Toyota cars assembled in America have problems! Assebmle then in Japan where it is done right. If you look at the quality records, The vehicles assembled in Japan have far fewer problems.

Translation: Until the money goes to American execs and shareholders, the very same that are fueling the cycle of ****ty American cars because all they give a **** about is making a quick buck in the short run. American workers can build just as good cars (Toyota’s proven that), but it’s the leadership that sucks ass. You think their business models are the same? Try reading the Toyota Way. It’s not nearly the same. As one small example, grunt workers at a Toyota factory have far more say than a comparable “domestic” factory.

Look at where Toyota and Honda are and look at where the First GM nameplate is. Wow look at where that upstart from Korea is!

They just towed in a 4Runner, it looks new. Oh well, got a meeting to go to.

What blows my mind is how much people harp on their superfantasticfradulisticexpialadojous quality…. and yet their cars are often the most boring garbage ever produced. AND WE PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR IT.

Toyota does have good quality, fit and finish and ergonomics….. oh yes. All good.

It’s just that the cars aren’t inspiring, don’t look nice, with no actual sports trim levels, no manual transmissions on the “sport” versions, no rear wheel drive, no lightweight cars that aren’t gas misers….

So it’s these kinds of cars that these new factories will produce. That and a few million trucks.

I find it amazing people don’t demand more interesting cars buy not buying what amounts to high quality garbage.

And no, I don’t recommend buying GM over a Toyota. They’ve got their own problems and front wheel drive religion to axe in coming years.

I see is re-investing nearly 1 billion dollars in 8 Michigan plants for engine, transmission, stamping and assembly to take them to the next level of flexible manufacturing.
