Well said D.A.

Here's hoping that Toyota is just another victim of the onslaught that is "The American Revolution" and those traitors get what's coming to them. They should come on over to Michigan sometime. Let us decorate their new Toyotas for them. :D

Hey Lambo, nobody gives a crap about DCX. The only thing that matters in the hearts and minds of enthusiasts is GM's reign over the industry. If you don't like it, then maybe you should just leave.

What's the deal with the new Toyota styling? The cars look like manatees and the trucks look like bulldogs. The Camry has very odd details - body contours, tail lights that stick out (and that manatee / sea cow look.) And the Yaris sedan is a real sleep inducer...

btw: What about the Honda CR-V front end? Just our luck, they run forever so we get to look at 'em drive by...at least it looks good from other angles.

Well for whatever its worth, Toyota gaining even more US manufacturing won't do anything to change their lackluster range of cars. While a Toyota is infinitely better on quality then General Motors, they are the only domestic manufacturer trying to make waves with a few bold new sporty products such as the Camaro, Solstice and Sky, Zeta-sedans, Caddy CTS and the mainstay evolving Corvette Z06.

The state of the car market and its relation to market share has always perplexed me. To me, GM is doing much better because their lineup of cars are becoming less boring than they used to be.

Alternatively, Toyota makes a lot of very boring cars that don't handle very well because they have very soft suspensions and FWD. Amazingly, people seem to like this more and while I prefer superior build quality myself I still can't justify buying a more well built vehicle that does less for the driver than a comparatively exciting product that has some reliability and quality issues.

I just don't understand why General Motors got the message that people want more exciting products and loses money and yet Toyota flatly ignores those requests and keeps reaping profits and builds more factories!

Amazing.

Oh damn, Lock your windows... close your doors. Toyota packed their bags and are planning to move in for total domination...

However, with everything I see happening at the american brands they shouldn't pack their bags just yet.

If only your posts were one thousandth as funny as you think they are, it might at least be entertaining.

they MAY build 5 plants. They may get AIDS and die of a cold too. If it isn't concrete it isn't newsworthy and isn't shit.

As for their quality.. how is the sludge suit going? How many cars did they recall this year? 1.5 million or something lmao..

Facts are they are set to import a record number of cars in the US this year.

gmnumberone, you should be a stand up comedian. All these things you say are just too funny.

Nobody's going to believe that you see so many imports broken down all over the place and all their owners running to you just to tell you that they wish they owned a gm vehicle. It just doesn't happen. Not in the real world, buddy.

I still want GMnumberone4ever to tell me the name of that San Diego Toyota dealership where I can score a Tundra for $15k off MSRP. I love my 2002 Ford truck, but if I can sell it, buy a new Tundra, and bank about $3k in the process, I'm there.

moogleii- Omigod - I just saw a whole parking lot full of G6's catch fire and then the hoods blew off and hit a a lot full of corvettes and all of the vette hoods blew off and crushed a lot full of Saturn Sky's.
I think it all started becausde a Buick Lucerne's transmission failed and it ran into the G6 lot.

That's not entirely true bun_a_gm. The Toyota plant in Cambridge Ontario produces the Corolla, Matrix and RX350 and 400h, and it has consistently ranked as high or higher than it's counterparts in Japan. Same for Honda's plant in Alliston Ontario. And you'll notice in the JD Power survey that even the GM plants that rank high are located in Canada.

BOOO!!!

Toyota cars assembled in America have problems! Assebmle then in Japan where it is done right. If you look at the quality records, The vehicles assembled in Japan have far fewer problems.

"Toyota will never be an American company until the money comes to America."

Translation: Until the money goes to American execs and shareholders, the very same that are fueling the cycle of shitty American cars because all they give a shit about is making a quick buck in the short run. American workers can build just as good cars (Toyota's proven that), but it's the leadership that sucks ass. You think their business models are the same? Try reading the Toyota Way. It's not nearly the same. As one small example, grunt workers at a Toyota factory have far more say than a comparable "domestic" factory.

bousbous85, they are closing plants because not enough people are buying them. And toyota is only making plants in the US so that people will think they are more american.

Sorry Jazz. That does not compute with the GM World View. It's obviously skewed and biased. In fact, I just saw a cargo ship full of foreign cars catch on fire because of the low quality cars in there.

I just saw about 9000 GM vehicles on flatbeds, while simultaneously being on fire. Goddamn GM quality is dropping.

I can't tell, I am staying somewhere in Huntington. Rather not state any further details.

They just towed in a 4Runner, it looks new. Oh well, got a meeting to go to.

gm number one you are an idiot. if american cars really were the shit then they would sell all over the world. people vote with their wallets in the automotive world and they dont vote for gm and ford. In the rest of the world you cant buy pontiacs, buicks and other gm brands have severly limited offerings. Chevy sells cars in europe now but they are just rebaged daewoos so much for an american car ehy. and cadilac can barely sell a car in europe. as for ford usa well they can sell a couple of mustangs in europe and thats about it. and its not only europe go to japan and see how many brandnew american cars u can find i garantie its 0. the only export market were american cars do well is china and thats cause they have about as much taste as tofu. its sad mr gm that u are too ignorant and aparently full of yourself to admit you have said some dumb things.

It's not a good thing in the long term. Toyota is huge.

What blows my mind is how much people harp on their superfantasticfradulisticexpialadojous quality.... and yet their cars are often the most boring garbage ever produced. AND WE PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR IT.

Toyota does have good quality, fit and finish and ergonomics..... oh yes. All good.

It's just that the cars aren't inspiring, don't look nice, with no actual sports trim levels, no manual transmissions on the "sport" versions, no rear wheel drive, no lightweight cars that aren't gas misers....

So it's these kinds of cars that these new factories will produce. That and a few million trucks.

I find it amazing people don't demand more interesting cars buy not buying what amounts to high quality garbage.

And no, I don't recommend buying GM over a Toyota. They've got their own problems and front wheel drive religion to axe in coming years.

They assemble them here, don't confuse that with building them. 75% or more of parts used on Japanese vehicle assembled here are from parts manufactured in Japan/Korea/China or other 3rd world contries. This is part of the monetary loophole that adds to the trade deficit with the US.

I see is re-investing nearly 1 billion dollars in 8 Michigan plants for engine, transmission, stamping and assembly to take them to the next level of flexible manufacturing.
