I think the “bigger” Prius should be a proper station wagon, since there are no real Corolla or Camry wagon successors. Adding a Priusized CUV would be redundant because there’s already the Highlander Hybrid, and it would be stupid to add yet another Rav-4 or Venza sized vehicle with a different name (“Prius X”, anyone?)

Why is toyota making a bigger prius? Well because prius is the only good thing at toyota today. The fly by wire, zip ties, and rusty pickups issues are not helping toyota. Go drive a new corolla or camry and give a honest opinion and you will say this is piece of crap. The interiors are cheaply made with cheap plastics. Vents and piece do not fit like they used too. Its like the gm products of the mid 1990′s. This is why toyota is building a bigger prius, they have nothing else.

Just saw a pilot Volt out driving today. Did not hear a thing though.

Sure did have a crowd around it. Of course I was at a kids Robotic Competition so these tech savvy youngsters were thrilled.

Just a few months ago we were discussing about Toyota’s comments that GM was making a mistake bringing Li-ion batteries into production because they were dangerous. Now they have them in their vehicles. Many here made havoc on GM because they were using Li-Ion in the Volt.

Anybody remember that?

“Toyota is sticking with proven NiMH tech. Why? Cost is evidently the main factor. Li-Ion is more expensive than NiMH. But Toyota and its main battery partner, Panasonic, seem to have been struggling with advanced Li-Ion designs for a while. Back in 2007, Toyota indicated that new Priuses would continue to use NiMH, because the Li-Pack it was working with were raising safety concerns. They were catching on fire, for example. Not something you want in a vehicle that’s also carrying around a dozen gallons of highly flammable fuel.”

Bosley: Yes, there was a rumor that Toyota is planning a 2-door Prius, this would be awesome. I am tired of 4-doors only getting the hybrids. Now that Honda’s upcoming CR-Z is coming, you can be even more assured that Toyota will want a piece of the 2-door hybrid market. I can’t wait. Google for more info on “Toyota Prius Coupe”
