If they made a regular bumper and regular grille on the MDX and the CR-V you would say they are boring and lack passion or something like that I for one like that Honda has taken a chance with designsfor once and I think it works for the CR-V and the MDX

A few things that Acura needs:

A bigger rear drive V8 car OVER the RL. Remember the RL is 5 series Infiniti M, GS, Eclass competition. They have no 7 Sclass Q45 LS460 fighter

A new TSX with a coupe version and a small V6.

A V6 in the RDX I went to the dealer and saw that they are asking 36k for a turbo 4 banger and I cant see paying that. Take the Accords 3.0 spruce it up to get more horses, put an Acura cover on it and call it a day

It was a good move to axe the RSX. Leave the sports cars to Honda

Also great move to bring back the Type S TL

With that sloping roof line, third row headroom will be awful. I know it’s usually little kids back there, but I (6′4″) have sat in the third row of our Volvo XC90 for an hour and lived to tell. Overall design is not cohesive and will alienate current owners n droves. Way too techie looking and not sporty or luxurious at all. This, along with the CRV may not look good for Honda.

Bring on the new FX!!!

Starting at 41,000 dollars? If Lincoln can undercut this by a couple of grand (and they should), they may have themselves a legitimate contender in this field.

I’ve seen those taillights before…. on a little german sedan called THE AUDI A4. i am stark raving mad and foaming at the mouth right now. acura needs better designers.

The interior is nice, but the exterior look like a Saturn Vue. That is kind of a down grade from the 2006. I still prefer the Lexus RX, Infiniti FX over this thing.

gsh, the M6 and the Carrera aren’t even comparable cars, for example, a Caterham CSR is faster than a Ferrari F430 F1, and costs a fraction of the price, but I’m certainly not comparing the two, because they aren’t meant to compete against each other in their respective portions of the market. Second, i dont know how we got to talking about M6’s and Carerras on a page regarding the new MDX, but after seeing all of the pictures, I really like the way it turned out, the front end could be better but the rear is gorgeous, as is the interior, no its not a offroading, tough truck, but it does what its meant to do well and for that reason alone will sell, just like the last MDX did.

And we had to wait how many years to see this?…I think Honda/Acura needs to go on a “retreat” to find its “soul” (if he has any). They have never been famous for creating beautiful cars. I had a couple of them, most of them are “ugly” good cars. If you need to impress somebody or just yourself, don’t buy a Honda/Acura, they are BORING and lately they seem to be having problems designing the front grill or nose of their SUVs (CRV). It seems to me that they are trying to hard and obviously is not working. Ugly, boring, ugly…

gsh, true but the M6 is probably a more comfortable car and comes with all the creature comfort options. I haven’t seen the performance numbers of the M6 but it’s probably not as quick or nimble as the Carrera.

the BMW M6 gets its ass handed to it by a regular Carrera, a car with no more than 325hp and costs about 73,000…so Renton dont tell me the NSX is a poor choice. the M6 is a big fat pig of a car mainly bought to flatter the egos of iDrive loving nerds who like big numbers like “500″

Thanks Manster. Many would say those are all expensive cars and that would be correct. But do remember the Datsuns Zs that were cheap AND looked great. And the 50s fords and chevy’s. What’s with keeping good design only in the elite? Good lines don’t cost more than ugly ones. Only finishes like woods, leathers, and “bling” jack up the price.

Yes, but to Acura’s defense, it’s intended to be that way. If you want something rugged there are plenty of other choices out therey. My gripe with Acura is their lower standard than the Hondas. Check out the cheap interior materials in the RSX compared to let’s say an Accord EX. But Luxury brand or not, $ speaks for itself. Frankly, I think Honda’s luxury line is an experimental ground for many of their innovations. Their need to differentiate the interior of their vehicles actually leads to worse ergonomics in some. All in all, they are still good dependable vehicles if you don’t care about having a real driver’s car.

Crossovers in general are considered rather soft & feminine (pay attention to who actually drives them on the road: females & older/married men, @ least in my college town area). However, MDX has always been one of the more rugged looking ones.

w/ SUVs on the sales decline, I wonder if single/young men will start buying CUVs — somehow I doubt it but you never know.

Renton I agree with you on a few points, such as your preference of BMW and other German makes over Acura, but Acura is still an incredible car manufacturer that knows at least how to make a reliable vehicle, unlike the Germans. And to call Acura’s girly, or chick cars, is just ignorant, that title goes to something like the VW Cabrio, or even the New Beetle, but an Acura MDX? Wrong.

^^^ many of the above comments are all haters. Please, use facts and proof, or state that your just making an opinion. Many of these statements are without proof. I would like to do my own research too
Anyways, in my opinion I like this car, but it looks too much like other luxury SUVS. The C pillar is similar to other SUVS. I took a picture of this Acura MDX and a picture of an Infiniti FX45 and they’re overall profile are EXTREMELY similar, besides for the front grill and lights. I also compared it to a Lexus RX300, and the profile was also similar, and that C pillar… Of course they are not the same car though inside.
I love the interior, but I still do not like the steering wheel and grill design. Anyways that’s just opinion, but I encourage you to compare images too and you will see what I’m talking about…

When I first drove the current 1 series, yea I thought the handling was damn good. Then I drove the new Honda City and thought it’s a far nimbler car for city usage. Just because a BMW has good handling doesn’t mean it’s the ultimate driving machine. Frankly, a Toyota Harrier 3.0 with AIRS suspension (Lexus RX if you don’t know), has better handling here than any 3 series.

You find out by buying 1000+ cars of different brands like I did and If you still think German brands top the quality benchmark, you’re still living in the 80’s but then your bias may cloud your judgement anyway. I agree though that even the same brand’s quality varies depending the location of manufacture.

Driver’s car yes, excellent warranty yes, though their resale sucked where I live. The M6 is good but at that range, you might as well get something from Porsche. Also, manual trans is dead, get the faster dual clutch variants…

BMW’s break down twice as fast as Toyotas and Hondas in tropical weather. And that’s even with their hot climate version. The AC in an el cheapo old Civic is better than any MB or BMW in this area. With all their superior engineering they still can’t design something that lasts and work properly. Just check out the location and design of the AC filter on the C Class. Or the uneven molding of the plastics under the hood of the 3 series. So Renton, IMO it’s either the Germans are just dumb or lazy. Frankly, it’s bad for my business which is where the hatred springs. And I’ve been doing this for 35 years. So there… don’t wonder why if you don’t know kid. Take some rest…
