Revealed: secret designs for missing MGs

Automotive designer Peter Stevens has provided AutoExpress with new information on cancelled projects he worked on for MG Rover before its collapse. “These images show work that we did in the MG Rover studio last year,” said Stevens. “The little blue sports car was part of a plan for a new MG Midget, to be possibly based on the centre section of the TF’s platform.” This collection of ‘missing MGs’ comes from a man credited with contributing to the McLaren F1 supercar and Subaru Impreza. And Stevens confirmed it wasn’t just the Midget that the maker was interested in: “The big silver car was an update for the TF itself,” he said. What’s more, he said the company was working on the project until late last year. Also interesting The company is also said to have been actively developing ideas for the Austin-Healey badge. It will be interesting to see if any of these ideas are carried over when the company relaunches.
