1c3d0g--- GoodYears have been known for many years as being bad tires at expensive prices. Just read any tire forums and ask peoples opinions on goodyear tires and they are all negative. These new Yokohama tires looks good, but will they last a long time? probably not, but ultra high performance tires are built for maximum grip, and that means softer rubber which wears quicker than regular tires. Alot of "off brand" performance tires are getting very good with very affordable prices. I had a set of NEXEN N2000 18" performance tires on my 440hp WRX and they performed very well and lasted me 30k miles. My friend has a set of 18" NANKANG tires on his 500hp M5 and they grip amazingly well and were only $600 for the set vs $1000 for a set of Michelin's. Before buying new tires, check out some of the "off brands" really good deals and really good quality.

Michelin is usually good, Goodyear is generally asleep at the wheel, but no tire maker has an "all good" lineup, everyone has a dud or 2.

Interesting they chose RX-8s to test. That would equate to zero chance of smoky burnouts melting all that fancy tread. Stick a set on a Viper and drift it around a few of those corners with the back end lit up like a Christmas tree. If they're even still on the rims, then I'll believe them.

^^^Doesn't matter, Yokohama makes really good tires, and that's coming from someone who generally doesn't like Japanese stuff.

What's this tire's longevity? Are we looking at a replacement at 10,000 miles?
