I agree with "anon". You never see anyone with a lambo take it to the track, yet you see porsches and ferraris all of the time. The only races that you see lambos in is the lamborghini GTR race. I think a japanese team occasionally has one in the american lemans series, but it never does very well. They evolved from tractors, not race cars. Check the history.

As a side shot, any of you big spenders interested in a CA registered low mileage '01 M5 going for 50k? If so, contact me through this post and I'll be happy to get personally in touch by email.

I cant't believe you're all discussing Robb Report. This is hilarious. Robb Report is a magazine for dreamers who'd like to talk about things they know nothing about. Furthermore, it is written by morons who don't know what they're talking about.

If you're in the market for the types of toys and properties advertised in Robb Report, the last thing you do is take advice from a magazine. You get a specialized agent.

Keep the discussion open, it's endlessly amusing! By the way, it's nouveau, as in French for new, not nuvo.

I used to get the Robb Report to research market prices for exotics, but quit when they started catering to the aftermarket crowd. I then switched to the DuPont registry for this information. Now that they are catering to the aftermarket crowd, I have to look for another source such as the Ferrari market Letter, etc...

Why the hell would anyone put those disgusting, hideous, annoying and stupid looking aftermarket wheels on their exotic? Or the vertical doors, ground effects kits, headrest LCD's, or any of the other crap that they both advertise? I am not a sports celebrity, movie star or nuvo-riche socialite who thinks that I have to "individualize" my car just like everyone else. I just want to know what the cars are selling for and where to get what I am looking for. I don't care about the editors opinion, that is why the other magazines road test them. I can read real stats in Car and Driver, Motor Trend, etc... Just get back to the basics DuPont and Robb Report!

Jon,
Yeah, "affluent"....that's the stuff you flush down the toilet, right?

I ALWAYS go the the "Robb Report" for my automotive information.......they would NEVER skew it to the dealer advertising just two pages past the spread like the "DuPont Regisrty" would!!!

Mike,

Have ever read the magazine? I have issues dating back over a decade, and trust me the magazine has gotten progressively worse (I have cancelled my subscription). It went from basically showing ‘luxury’ items, to ranking them, and they always got it wrong. And if you merely read what the writers are spouting, you could tell they have no idea WTF they are talking about, and if they do know, then the RR editor is really destroying their articles.

One important detail I would like to point out, is that they now really cater to the lowest denominator: they went from saying that they were ‘the magazine for the affluent lifestyle’ to saying that they were ‘the magazine for the luxury lifestyle’, because well, not everyone knows what the word ‘affluent’ means.

While the Robb Report looked at factors mostly centered around "exclusivity" and "styling" for their decision making, the Ferrari just purely outperforms the Lamborghini. In several head to head shootouts between the two, which were conducted by other automotive magazines, the Lambo was quicker 0 to 60, but the Ferrari outperformed it in every other category: handling, lateral G's, top speed, acceleration (after 60mph), braking, Track speed / lap time etc... Even the interior, convertible top and overall build quality were ranked better. Most of the other magazines testers were disappointed with the Lambo. The Z06 gets better rankings on most areas, with the exception of interion and exterior styling.

While Lamborghini may have originally set out to build better cars because he was not happy with his 1950's Ferrari, that isn't the case any more. It hasn't been since the last Miura rolled off of the line. It is all about exterior style now.

I personally know 3 Lamborghini owners who own Ferraris as well, and they spend most of their time in the Ferraris, since their Lambo's are always in the shop. They will each admit, that they bought the car for its looks, and the fact that it gets all of the girls attention. They prefer the Ferrari's handling and drivability in the Colorado mountains over the Lambo's, which are mostly boulevard cruisers.

Lambos: 2 Diablos, 1 Countach, 1 Miura and 1 Gallardo.
Ferraris: 1 Testarossa, 1 512 BBi, 1 Enzo, 1 360, 2 355s.

Great pick! The Gallardo spider is hot! Obviously the contenders were luxury exotic cars around the 100k-150k price range, not "ultra exotics" like the SLR or Veyron. Read the article before you say they know nothing.
