Italy's Biemme Special Cars specializes in converting luxury sedans into hearses. Most of its work has been done on Mercedes E-Classes and CLS-Classes, but the company has announced that it will display an even more exclusive hearse at the Tanexpo Funeral and Cemetery Trade Show that will take place this weekend in Bologna, Italy.

Biemme's hearse of all hearses is based on no other than the Rolls Royce Phantom. It is called the Phantom B12, an admittedly strange name for a hearse. The car's wheelbase has been stretched significantly which gives it a total length of about 23 feet. To better handle the extra weight from the added bodywork, the car comes equipped with a self-leveling air-suspension system.

The hearse's body is made entirely out of aluminum, and the conversion from a luxury sedan into a hearse is done by hand in Biemme's workshop by its most qualified employees. The company says that the frame is made up of over 600 parts that are held together by more than 650 feet of welding.

Out back, the coffin compartment features soft and rounded lines that blend well with the overall shape of the Phantom. It is accessed via the rear of the hearse thanks to a tailgate that opens in two parts. The interior is as luxurious as any standard production Rolls Royce and features blue-tinted windows and LED lighting all around.

The hearse is powered by the Phantom's 460 horsepower 6.5-liter V12 engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. No price figure was given, but the car is rumored to cost around half a million euros, which is approximately $662,000.

The Tanexpo Funeral and Cemetery Trade Show where the Phantom B12 will make its debut is a major event in the funeral industry. This year, organizers are awaiting over 16,000 visitors coming from an estimated 54 countries.
