Rolls-Royce’s Ghost sedan has only been on the market since December, but the BMW-owned luxury brand is already considering future variant’s of the “entry-level” sedan. The Rolls-Royce Ghost first appeared in production form at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Thanks to the early success of the Ghost sedan, Rolls-Royce is considering coupe and convertible variants of the smaller sedan, not unlike the Drophead Coupe and Coupe variants of the Phantom sedan. Concept versions of both models are expected in the coming years.
Although the Phantom range carries the Phantom nameplate across the entire line, Rolls-Royce head Ian Robertson says the Ghost family may not stick to a single moniker. Names like Corniche and Carmargue have been mentioned for the Ghost convertible and coupe models.
Additionally, Robertson says Rolls-Royce is considering a long-wheelbase version of the Ghost sedan. Although a stretched version of the Ghost would seem to impede on the Phantom’s territory, Rolls-Royce doesn’t expect such a scenario – so far about 85 percent of Ghost buyers have been new to the Rolls-Royce family.
