With the world’s economies struggling fairly consistently, the last time reporters caught up with the head of Rolls-Royce to talk about the future of the Ghost line the discussion led to the suggestion of a future, smaller variant on the Ghost platform.

Fast forward two months, and while that may still be very true, today our spies brought us glaring proof of a long wheelbase version of the Ghost – read bigger and more expensive. Now, before anyone cries foul, this is in a sense a cheaper and smaller option than before.

How so? Rolls-Royce is likely aiming for those seeking the size advantage of the much more pricey Phantom in the “value” package of the Ghost. So if you compare the Ghost LWB to a Phantom, then yes, it is smaller and less ostentatious.

Expect the same turbocharged 12-cylinder mill that displaces 6.6-liters and cranks out 563 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. Power is shifted via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The stretch itself is expected to go from 5,400 mm to roughly 5,600 mm, which is a bit shy of eight inches longer.

The standard Rolls-Royce Ghost starts at $245,000, while the Phantom starts at $380,000.
