Rolls-Royce introduces certified pre-owned program

07/17/2007, 2:08 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Rolls-Royce has jumped on the increasingly popular certified pre-owned bandwagon with a new program called “Provenance.” Virtually every luxury carmaker and almost all non-luxury carmakers offer some sort of certification program for qualified used cars and Rolls thought it was time for them to join the foray.

U.K.’s Car magazine reports that Rolls-Royce’s program doesn’t differ much from other manufacturers in that it offers an extra 24 months worth of warranty in addition to any remaining warranty for qualified cars. Rollers that qualify must have passed an inspection process to the point where they are “virtually flawless,” according to Rolls-Royce.

Just crap.
They’re still used cars. This is a ploy to hose you, although if you can afford a Rolls …

Certified Pre-owned… one of my most favorite marketing word plays.

“Yep, these are definitely used. We garantee it.”

I love word connotations. Instead of prettying up the term “used” with “pre-owned”, we should take it the other way: Rolls Royce now proudly introduces its first ever certified defiled program!

Cars must be “virtually flawless.” Sorry Paris, you cant sell your car back to Rolls because of the vagina stain you left when you forgot your underwear. No one wants that.

I don’t like used vehicle and I especially don’t like selling them. But would you rather have a used vehicle with a warranty or without? It’s a great choice for people that need a used car.

And I don’t mean explicity Rolls. I don’t think anyone NEEDS a Rolls-Royce.

nice should make buying a phantom easier and they’ll also be new-ish as i doubt anyone would have had serious mileage on a phantom.

This will make more sense when BMW expans the Rolls-Royce model range, with the rumoured ‘junior Phantom’, lower-priced and positioned between the Phantom and the 7-series.

In the case of any british car, it’s called “Certified Pre-Crapped.”
.
That’s true whether it’s a new or used british car.

Take it from a two time British “pre-owned” fool, you don’t buy British and you definitely don’t buy used British.

Pre-owned or not, they are still Phantoms or Drop Head Coupes, which means that they are still the very, very best that money can buy if you’re in the market for a luxury sedan or convertible.

wrangler: I don’t know if you can consider the current crop of new Rolls models “British”, or “buying British”. Considering they’re owned in full by BMW…

Rolls is just exploiting the secondary market. Wannabes who want to show-off they’re in a ROLLS ROYCE (Ya playah!!!) but just can’t afford a new one. Be the first in the PJ’s with your RR boyeeee….

as cars depreciate, and times get hard it won’t be long before a guy is reduced to living in his Rolls!

FACT: A NEW ROLLS LOSES 22000 DOLLARS OF ITS VALUE IN A WEEK.

As a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow owner, I love it. Rolls-Royce is the second best British company ever. Yes, they’re ostentatious and unnecessary, but just fantastic! EVERYONE UP THERE WHO DOESN’T LIKE ROLLERS, YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE YOU’RE TRUNDLING AROUND IN AN AMERICAN ****MOBILE.
