Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, a division of BMW, announced today that former Jaguar designer Giles Taylor has been appointed head of exterior design for the ultra-luxury automaker.
Taylor will officially begin his role with his new employer in April, bringing with him 10 years of experience as an executive designer within British industry, including acting as head designer for both the XJ and XK models that are currently helping Jaguar to fight its way back into the luxury market.
Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group design, commented, “Giles brings with him exceptional design skills and a comprehensive understanding of British values and heritage that are so crucial to Rolls-Royce. His appointment will further strengthen the extraordinary Rolls-Royce team headed by Ian Cameron.”
The design team that Taylor joins at Rolls-Royce is hardly lacking talent of its own, having won the prestgious red dot: Best of the Best award in 2010 for the Ghost.
