Rolls-Royce has announced that Torsten Mueller will take over as its CEO when current chief Tom Purves retires. Mueller brings with him more than 20 years of experience within the BMW Group, having most recently led the automaker’s global product management.
Mueller was also instrumental in reviving the Mini brand during the early part of the last decade, according to BMW.
“Torsten has many years of solid experience in the fields of brand and product management as well as marketing,” Rolls-Royce chairman Ian Robertson said in a statement released by the automaker. “He is the perfect candidate to lead Rolls-Royce Motor Cars into a period of expansion – having not only a successful track record as a manager, but also a feel for the unique attributes of a traditional brand.”
Mueller will take the position from Purves at the end of March. Purves will have led Rolls-Royce for just under two years, although he is best known as the former head of BMW’s North American operations.
