With the Dodge Viper set to take a short hiatus come this July, the Devon GTX supercar that was heavily based on the sports car looks to also be heading for the chopping block.

Leftlane reported that Chrysler planned to stop production of the Dodge viper temporarily come July 2010, and then retart production of a new Viper with Ferrari influence come 2012. Now it appears that a combination of this stoppage, and possible disagreement between partners with Devon may spell the end of this amazing car.

According to Automobile, partners within Devon had a disagreement in regards to the level of expected production required in order to move forward, and as such, the project has come to a close. Prior to the end, Devon intended to build just 35 GTX’s per year, using the 8.4-liter Viper V10 engine and producing 650 horsepower.

The Devon GTX resembled the Viper in terms of its basic form, but added a level of sophistication and style more common on the Bugatti Veyron than a Dodge Viper. The supercar was built with an aircraft-quality carbon fiber body to save weight.
