Cadillac will unveil a V12-powered “four-door coupe” concept at an upcoming auto show, according to the latest issue of Road and Track magazine. The report suggests the V12 car could appear at the Paris Motor Show in September, or even sooner at another event. R&T says the car — like many concepts — has suicide doors. The Leftlane Perspective: Will this be the Cadillac concept previewed on 60 Minutes? We’d bet on it. We suspect this vehicle will preview the new 2008 CTS — it will likely be somewhere between the production sedan and coupe. [Thanks to Jeremy for the tip].

Sounds like a cadillac version of The Mercedes-Benz CLS with a V12. If it looks like the Cadillac 16 it’ll shame chrysler into not building that POS Imperial

Oh yea, GM’s really waking up. V12 engines when gas is $3 a gallon…Way to go. How about just building a car that’s relevant, and that does not have that same plastic Delco feel to all the controls that all the GM cars have.

Will the concept be carrying a Landau roof? Or wire wheels? Maybe some optional curbfeelers or (depends) storage compartments for those long trips without a bathroom in sight?
Yay, my grandpa needs a new Caddy because he found out how cheap his Buick was when I told him it shared underpinnings with my Impala…

You can always tell the original contributors from the wannabes. Sir, let’s ge this straight:
Anyone buying a luxury V12 4-Door coupe in the vein of the Panamera and Rapide, can afford gas at ANY price. Those cars cost north of $100,000.
So, comment about that which you know. Leave this for the big boys.

#18/19, Exactly. If you can afford to part with the $100,000 it will likely cost to buy the V12 Cadillac, you can definitely afford the gas. Whatever happened to the pushrod V12 they were developing for the Escalade a few years back? I never saw any kind of official notice of that project being canned. Not that I really care; the Escalade is a bit too gaudy for my tastes (although infinitely better looking than the new Navigator, IMHO). I do like the general design direction with the other Caddys though.
As far as Chrysler goes, I love their designs. But pricewise, they are competing more with Lincoln than they are with Cadillac. They’re even releasing a stretched 300 to take on the Town Car market. Cadillac is competing more with Mercedes.

Because the Caddy won’t see 100mph in its lifetime. It’ll be making grocery runs to the PigglyWiggly and Osco to pick up the owners meds…
And that’s why slow lanes exist on the highways.

highways don’t have slow or fast lanes. There is the right lane which you should drive in if its empty. The other lanes are for overtaking only

Hi Jay,
I dont know who you are but I’d suggest learning to read before attacking others on this board. If you actually had the attention span to read a single paragraph, you’d note it reads “The Leftlane Perspective: Will this be the Cadillac concept (which was ALREADY unveiled/previewed) on 60 Minutes? We’d bet on it. We suspect this vehicle will preview the new 2008 CTS — it will likely be somewhere between the production sedan and coupe.”
Then it links the reader to the article about the 60 minutes segment, which I saw when it originally aired live: http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/04/02/breaking-gm-previews-2008-cadillac-cts/
If you actually look at those spy shots, you’ll see you have no idea what you are talking about because those shots are of a NEW model and re-posted on this post.
Of course it makes sense that you’d think the shot was a normal CTS because that is my main criticism of Caddys – that they all look too alike and their “ultra-modern” look is more akin to what a 3rd-grader would consider “futuristic.”
But, as far as saying this demonstrates that I really know nothing about cars and calling me “boy,” I would say is simply ignorant. First of all, I have no interest in “knowing everything” about cars – I am simply an auto enthusiast like you, with an opinion, and who desires sharing his opinions and reading others about a hobby we love. I personally hope you find more love in this world so as to be a bit less bitter so you dont have to call random people you dont even personally know “boy” and other lame immature personal attacks…

And of course, on the internet we’re all richer than Bill Gates. In the real world, an M5 starts at $81,200 and will comprehensively outclass anything Cadillac ever comes up with.
