Saab Aero-X Concept makes public appearance

03/28/2006, 6:19 PM

By admin

The 2007 Saab Aero-X Concept made a public appearance in Sweden when it was photographed at a gas station in Sweden. The car made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. We’re not too sure what’s going on in the photos, but judging by the number of photographers, it appears to be some kind of photo-op. One thing’s for sure — the Aero X concept is most certainly a real functioning car. Images after the jump…

The fact it’s missing license plates puzzles me a bit.

“[T]he Aero X is most certainly a real functioning concept.” What the heck is that supposed to mean? Yes, it’s a genuine oxymoron…

It means the concept car actually runs and drives, unlike most concept cars that are for show only, and don’t actually run.

obviously, the older couple driving the car are out for a test drive. guess the temporary plates blew off.

I think those pics were taken in south Sweden so that probably is an ethanol station.

Not sure about the availability of Ethanol in Sweden, but I would not be surprised if it was filling up with just regular gasoline.

So you people REALLY think this car is driving around in Sweden without any license plates?
They probably just transported it there by truck for some PR stunt.

Yes those pics were taken in south Sweden, and probably near Ängelholm where Saab has invited auto-journalist to test drive the Aero-X concept. And yes, that is an ethanol (E85) station. They are pretty comon over here.

Yeah the rims are cool. I think they are supposed to look like Jet turbines.

Ethanol comes from anything you can ferment, not just corn.

Does anyone have any idea how strong this car is in regard to a roll over, considering there are no “A” pillars?

are they REALLY going to put this into production? It looks a little too risque for production, let alone release to the states

Yeah those rims looking like the jet turbines is a clever idea – I was skeptical of this ride at first but I’m digging it now – the steering wheel with the flat spot at the bottom is somewhat lame, but overall it’s sweet!

I just realized the whole thing with that door is that they were trying to copy how a ****pit opens – props for the effort, not sure it’s there quite yet but cool idea.

Ethanol comes from anything you can ferment, just like vodka.

There.

This is only a marketing stunt. I bet this concept was built using a 9-5 platform, and probably with just a common petrol engine and transmission from Saab/GM models.

The rims are designed as turbines so they can cool off the brakes, and NO!, the reason this car was made with no A pillars is simply because they will never put it into production. Take it from me, I was at the Geneva Motor Show and spoke to the guy who worked on it for 6 years…
