Saab crossover expected soon

Saab is likely to have a crossover vehicle soon, says Jay Spenchian, Saab’s general manager. “We continue to evaluate that segment, and things look very favorable,” Spenchian said to AutoWeek. Spenchian said future Saabs will have more aggressive styling and higher performance to correspond with the brand’s heritage and its “Born from Jets” marketing pitch. He said the company will focus on creating more refined products. “I’ll be honest with you. The 9-5 is not where it needs to be, long term,” he said.

As a former long-time Saab fan (owing a 1986 900 then a 2001 9-3), I’ve found the direction that the line is taking to be quite antethetical to what the brand has been in the past. SUVs, Crossovers? What garbage? Plus, I’m still sad about losing the 9-3 hatchback. Saab is totally turning into a mish-mash of several car companies. Perhaps I’ll buy a new one in a few years, but for now, I’ve become an Acura fan…

“Born from Jets” == “Born from Crap”
