Saab crossover gets green light

General Motors has approved the production of a new Saab crossover, according to Automotive News. The vehicle is likely to be built in North America, but will be sold globally, the report said. The goal of the new model is to bring the struggling brand to profitability. In October, Saab cancelled its 9-6X project following GM’s sale of its controlling stake in Subaru. The 9-6X was to be based on the Subaru B-9 Tribeca. Sources said the new crossover may share some design elements with the Saab Aero-X Concept.

Saab needs something new and they need it fast so hopefully this will make up for the Subaru based one. Saab/GM could have used all the sales they can get.
