Saab ’s 9-7x, a version of the GMT360 platform, will get a limited-edition 390 horsepower Aero version this fall. The Aero will include a version of General Motors’ 6.0-liter V8 that currently powers the similar Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS, making the 9-7x Aero the most powerful Saab ever produced – even if it’s an Ohio-built Saab based on a GM SUV platform.
The Aero gets a slightly down tuned 390 horsepower, 395 lb-ft. version of the TrailBlazer SS’ V8, (the SS gets 5 more horsepower and 5 more lb-ft.), as well as unique 20 inch wheels, an exclusive Carbon Flash Metallic paint scheme and Aero-embroidered leather seats.

The suspension is modified with 10 percent thicker anti-roll bars and a heavy-duty rear axle with a limited-slip differential. The brakes also get the performance treatment with larger 12.8 inch rotors up front and heavy duty calipers and pads all around.

The 9-7x Aero will start at $45,960 in the U.S. including the destination charge when it goes on sale this fall. A standard 9-7x starts at $39,935. Saab has only released one photo of the 9-7x Aero, but we think the photo might be of the 2007 9-7x Altitude Edition, not the Aero.
