The vultures may be circling to pick apart Saab’s remaining assets, but the Swedish automaker’s comprehensive museum collection will reportedly remain intact.

Saab enthusiasts were dealt a heavy blow earlier this month when Saab’s receivers announced that the automaker’s 120+ car museum collection would be split up and sent to auction, but it appears as though the lot will be preserved in full thanks to a bid from the city of Trollhattan, SAAB AB and The Wallenberg Foundation.

According to Autocar, the three sides pooled together $4.05 million to purchase the entire Saab museum collection. The ease of selling the entire museum collection to one bidder likely helped with the sale and, at $33,750 a vehicle, Trollhattan, SAAB and The Wallenberg Foundation got a pretty good bargain.

Believed to be the most complete Saab collection in the world, the Saab museum includes the first Saab ever built, a factory-fresh 9-2x and what is likely the only 2012 9-5 wagon left in existence.
