Saab sets sights on BMW 1-Series

Saab is considering building a car to compete with the BMW 1-Series, Audi A3, and Mercedes A-Class, according to Automotive News Europe. The report suggests development has already begun, but production is still at least three years away. It’s unclear if the car would be intended for U.S. sale. It was also unclear what form the car would take. As previously BMW plants to bring its 1-Series coupe and convertible to the U.S., but not its two hatchback models. (Yesterday, we brought you spy shots of the 1-Series convertible). Last week, we reported that Saab plans to use the Geneva Motor Show to unveil a new Saab coupe concept with an all-new design language.
