Saturn recalling 42,000 Vues over power steering leak

09/19/2008, 2:12 PM

By Andrew Ganz

General Motors is recalling 42,408 Saturn Vues built between February and July of this year due to the potential of fire caused by leaking power steering fluid. Though GM says there have been no reports of accidents or injuries as a result of the leaks, the problem’s severity warranted a full recall. A nut that secures the power steering line to the power steering pump could loosen, resulting in the fluid leakage.

The recall covers 2008 and 2009 Vues equipped with the available V6 engines. According to GM, dealers will inspect and tighten or replace the faulty nut as needed.

Fluid leakage due to a faulty nut, eh? Too bad Saturns aren’t people. There’d probably be a pill for that.

Go away, 1115. No reports of accidents or injuries. GM is taking care of this now, months after hitting the market, but probably immediately after it was discovered. That’s doing recalls right. Not waiting for you to take your car in for an oil change and making the ’service update’ without your knowledge.

GM just can’t do anything right, no matter how much they do.

Well, that’s what they get for designing the car in Korea.

Yes, because the only cars with recalls are designed in Korea.
