Scion announced today that the Scion tC Release Series 2.0 hits dealer showrooms beginning in mid-April. The 2006 tC Release Series 2.0 will come in a brilliant Blue Blitz Mica. This limited edition tC features a stainless steel mesh upper and lower front grille and 17-inch alloy wheels that come with a satin metallic finish. The tC’s only factory option, front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags, is standard equipment on the R.S. 2.0. Inside, the tC’s front and rear seats are trimmed with black Alcantara, a suede-like material commonly found on aftermarket racing seats. The tC R.S. 2.0 comes standard with a Pioneer Premium AM/FM/CD audio system with iPod connectivity and color-changing LED display. A Pioneer six-inch subwoofer with 35-watt maximum power complements the upgraded head unit and is tuned specifically for the tC. Only 2,600 units of the tC Release Series 2.0 will be built. The suggested retail price is $18,260.

should’ve been called the Scion TC release Series 1.2… You’d expect a turbo or something if they were going to make a big deal…

35 watts maximum power? From a Subwoofer? I don’t think that was written right.

You guys are harsh. All cars’ special editions are like this: a unique color and wheels, some normally optional equipment included, and a couple of little touches.

They’re a lot more common in Europe though, where everyone releases special editions here and there.

Special editions are also common in Japan. Everybody does them. If you go to Toyota, Nissan, Mazda’s jp web sites, there’s a whole bunch. flavor of the month.
      It’s like toys.
      Wait, cars ARE toys.

you guys bi.tch too much, its only 1800 bucks more plus its not as common as the other Scions. Custom color and the rims have a different finish. The car WILL stand out from other Scions.

seriously, f*** all this rare color and only 2600 made. My good friend has a TC. He’s putting down 312 WHP, 326 RWTQ. His best run is 12.23 @ 119.38mph. That’s all great, but he’s screwed on highway runs due to a low revving(6,400RPM) 5 speed, and porked a little on highway gas mileage. My beef is, when the hell are they going to put a 6 speed manual in this car. Other 4 bangers that have half the aftermarket support as the TC have 6 speed tranies. As i see it the only other way to get more top end out of the 5 speed is spend retarded money on a fully built motor that’s good for about 8,000 RPM. So does anyone know if they are going to put a 6 speed in the 2007 TC???
If they aren’t I will go into the poor house because i will get a 350Z instead.

everyone hating the new release…jealousy is a sign that your car sucks

All these haters are jealous, period.

I was deciding on whether to get a regular tc or the rs 2.0. Let me tell you something, the extra $1,800 is worth it.

First, the tC stood out when it first came out, now it’s becoming as common as Civics. The RS2.0 stands out, period.

Second, the options on the RS2 is a pretty darn good value. The suede seats are very nice, firm and comfortable. You don’t slip and slide all over the place like you do with leather. Leather suede options are about $1,000 – $2,000 options on the average car. For those that know anything about car electronics, iPod connectivity is NOT cheap. The adapter cables alone cost anywhere from $80 – $200. The subwoofer sounds great. It suits my purpose just fine. I want bass that sounds good, not to be heard 3 blocks away. The subwoofer also does NOT take up any space in your rear hatch since it’s flush with the floor. It also comes with front and rear side and curtain airbags. Now, tell me if you can get those extra options for $1,800?

Lastly, all you people who diss it are sore because you have a washed out “plain Jane” tC. You’re sore because your car doesn’t catch attention anymore. We have all of these internet racers who talk performance and horsepower figures and yet run 18′s on the 1/4mile. Everyone always “has a friend” that has a car that kicks ass.

The bottomline is that people buy Scion/Toyota cars because they are the highest quality and best reliability cars in the market. I bought my tC 2.0 to commute with, and look good doing it, not smoke an Enzo with a fart pipe and chinese stickers on my car. $18,800 is a stellar deal for my Scion. There is NO other car in the market for the exact same amount of money, that can compare to the features, and the quality of the tC.

If I wanted something fast, I wouldn’t not buy a tC. I’d spent the extra $5,000 and get a WRX. Ricers often talk about supercharging this, turbo charging that or engine swapping this. But when they turn off their computers, the only thing supercharged with hot air is their mouth.
