Consumer Reports has given the Scion iQ one of the lowest ratings it has given to any car, at 29. Only the Smart ForTwo, the car's direct competitor, fared worse, at 28. When we drove the car, it fared only slightly better, garnering a grade of C+.

Among Consumer Reports' critiques was its uncomfortable and noisy ride, awkward driving position, as well as the car's general lack of pace. The only things the consumer magazine seemed to like about the car was its safety performance, ease of parking, tight turning circle, and short braking distance. The 34mpg fuel economy was deemed to be average for such a small vehicle. The $16,025 price tag was also too high.

Compared to the appropriately named ForTwo, the Scion iQ has a capacity of four, or more accurately 3+1, with the one being a small child. In this case, there is little if any cargo space left over, however.
