Scion ’s newest model, the xD, will be priced at $14,550 when it goes on sale in August. That’s a fairly substantial $1150 more than the xA, the model the new xD replaces.
The ’07 xA started at $13,400 and, like the xD, it offered an automatic transmission for $800. The xD is about the same size as the outgoing model, but it features styling more akin to the boxy xB. The xA never met the sales success of its boxier brother, so Scion is hoping that the new model will provide the visual link to the best known Scion.
Scion also released fuel economy figures for the xD: 27/33 for a manual and 26/32 for the automatic. These figures are based on the EPA’s new testing procedures, but they should stack up about the same as the outgoing xA.
