Toyota’s youth-oriented brand, Scion, will finally go on sale in Canada for the 2010 model year. Scion has been on sale in the United States since late 2002 when the uniquely designed cars were put on sale for the 2003 model year. Canada will get exactly the same lineup as the United States receives.
Scion traces its roots to Toyota’s “Project Genesis” in the mid- to late-1990s, a failed effort by Toyota to court younger buyers. Project Genesis included the last-generation Toyota Celica, MR2 Spyder and Echo, none of which met sales expectations.
Scion is seen as a limited success by most auto industry analysts. Though sales have been reasonably strong, they’ve not exceeded expectations. Most Toyota dealers are also Scion dealers and the same is expected for Canada. Scion dealers in Canada will also sell a variety of aftermarket-style accessories for the cars.

Yeah A4.
It seem odd it would take this long to expand to Canada. I wonder if they sell in Mexico too.

Finally. I think the tC will sell in Canada. It looks really nice, I think it looks better than a Civic. Toyota needs a compact coupe. Hopefully when/if they redesign the tC, they will give it more power and keep that nice look. If Scion wants to attract young male buyers, add a turbo to the tC and make it a drivers car.

the thing is not many youth here in Canada would be interested in the Scion brand from Toyota as Toyota is often thought of as a brand that is exteremely boring, or for older people. its rare to see younger males driving a Toyota product unless it’s a base Yaris / Echo, or a Tacoma pick-up.

Well, if they want to expand to Canada, go ahead, but they aren’t going to be doing any better than Kia.
Personally, wagon, I don’t think Scion will sell well here. Everyone will be like…” What the hell is that revolting box..oh, its a car…”
I think Scion will be better as rebadged Toyota.
Besides half of the Canadian population wont be able to pronounce “Scion” anyways.

I’ve seen plenty of scions on the road here, mostly Xb’s, but personally, I HATE scion, its a lame attempt at a car, and offers nothing “youth” want in their vehicles. Most are driven by middle age people

I can’t stand Scion cars, but the tC will sell like crazy in Montreal. A new econobox in a sea of Golfs, Cobalts, Civics, and Yarises, this can’t come soon enough.

VWGroup, I don’t know where you live in Canada, but here on the westcoast Kia is selling amazingly well. The Rio is everywhere, as are many other models. I think that Scion would sell well because people are looking for less expensive vehicles while getting something stylish. Its debatable about the style aspect of the Scions, but they definitely are affordable and an alternative to the Civic/Cobalt crowd

I’m guessing Scion wasn’t being sold in Canada because of the more strict bumper requirements. Now that they have been lowered to the same standard as the US, it was more viable for Toyota to sell them here. Swap out the speedometer et voila. You see quite a few older xB’s here in Atlantic Canada already.

In Vegas, we have tons of those xB’s with fartcans. I’m glad the Canadians will finally be able to feel my pain…
