Earlier this week it was revealed that Nissan was considering equipping its diesel-powered 2010 Maxima with only a manual transmission, but it turns out that report might have been completely backwards. A new report indicates that the diesel Maxima will only be available with an automatic transmission.
A previous report stated that Nissan decided on a manual transmission to help alleviate turbo lag associated with the turbo diesel, but that decision would go against U.S. consumers’ preference of automatic transmissions.

According to MotiveMag.com, Nissan is well aware of the need for an automatic transmission and will likely only pair the diesel engine with a self-shifting gearbox. However, a manual hasn’t been completely ruled out, although it is unlikely at this point.
