Mazda has announced a new contest using Google Earth that could land you a new Mazda CX-7, a 17″ Apple laptop, or an iPod. To make a long story short, prospective entrants simply view a short video for a clue, and then locate the CX-7 using the Google Earth mapping service. There will be six third prize drawings, one second prize drawing, one first prize drawing, and one grand prize drawing. According to Mazda, “the clues will get harder and harder as participants move throughout the game.” According to the contest description, completing all stages of the game increases your odds of winning. The Leftlane Perspective: The idea of using Google Earth for a contest is certainly an interesting one, and this idea seems to have some solid potential. However, it seems like Mazda is making this far too easy. A far more challenging search would not only create more buzz, it would also be more entertaining.
