Seat – Volkswagen’s Spanish division – has announced it will use next month’s Geneva Motor Show to showcase its latest Ibiza variant. Dubbed the Ibiza ST, the new sport wagon represents the third Ibiza model, joining the three and five-door hatchback models.
At 13.9 feet in length, the Ibiza ST is just 7 inches longer than its hatchback counterparts. However, that extra overhang gives the Ibiza ST 15.2 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats, with an even bigger load floor available with the rear seats folded.

The Seat Ibiza borrows its overall styling from the rest of the Ibiza range, complete with Seat’s signature ‘Arrow Design’ front end.

Ibiza ST buyers will have the choice of three gas engines and two diesel units, with outputs ranging from 85 to 105 horsepower. VW’s DSG dual-clutch transmission will also be on offer.

A new car that looks old….right out of the chute!

Sure it looks like a competent little wagon, but OMG this is a total rehash of a rehash.

I happen to like the looks of this one: airier and with better visibility then predecessor. It is outright dark on the back seat of Seat cab on a bright sunny Spanish day. This one looks more appealing, IMO.

Isn’t SEAT suppose to be coming to the states sometime this decade?

wow… those fog light surrounds are so original! NOBODY else does that now! Even the grinning lower air intake…. so new and fresh!

I can hear it now….. “what do you drive?” “A Seat” ….”Haha funny… what about the rest of the car?”

Actually I was wondering how you pronounce ‘Ibiza”. Is it like… so ‘I buys a’ sh*tbox like this because I can’t afford anything better? Or is it… sure it’s a piece of sh*t, but ‘eh beeza’ walking.

Johnny, the most popular engine with it will be 1.6L diesel, which will give it about 50-60 mpg and with price of fuel between 7 and 8 bucks a gallon stagnation and recession at the same time, there are not many customers for either Mustang or Porsche in Spain and Portugal at the moment. And those are primary markets for this car. Also, if you recall when I returned from Madrid, I mentioned that most of cabs in Madrid are actually Skoda’s. That’s another kick into reality for Seat.

It’s pronounced “say-OTT.” I can’t help but find similarities between this and a Hyundai, what is it called now, Accent? A little too swoopy and curvy for my tastes. What’s with the European makers (and Nissan) making their hood badge so prominent and gaudy? It’s not as if these cars are prestige items.

Bleh. I like the 5-door HB Ibiza (though the rear is a little too Mazda 3-ish) but this definitely has lost any originality that the other Ibizas have. Considering SEAT’s top-level model is basically a previous-generation Audi A4, it makes sense that this looks more than a little like the outgoing A3.

      Wow

I see no similarities in an Accent what so ever…..
Maybe they are making them so prominent so people can see what kind of car they are gonna get hit by the few seconds before they get hit…..

      just a hunch :)
