Kia ’s Soul was designed from the get-go to be a personalizer’s dream come true. While we haven’t seen many Souls customized by independent groups, the automaker showed off three possible variations of its own at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The black Soul will serve as a safety car at several US Touring Car Championship races during the 2010 season and the baby blue Soul was customized in conjunction with Antenna magazine, while the black Sinister Soul was created in-house by Kia.
The safety car was outfitted by auto racing apparel maker GoGoGear.com. It’s mostly stock inside with the exception of a thorough audio upgrade, but the exterior gets a special body kit, safety-spec lighting throughout and unique black wheels with a red pinstripe.
Antenna’s baby blue and brown-accented custom Soul features 20-inch MMR alloy wheels, a matte brown roof, a snowboard rack with a Revolution board, smoked tail and side marker lamps and baby blue brake calipers. Inside, it got a total makeover with denim touches, a fiberglass center console, chocolate leather-wrapped door panels and, in the cargo area, a virtual closet shelving system.
The Sinister Soul lives up to its name thanks to a matte finish paint job with silver accents by Buck Wild Designs. Special 20-inch alloy wheels by MSW and sport springs liven up the driving experience. Performance of the otherwise stock four-cylinder is modestly enhanced by a performance exhaust system and a special intake.
The cargo area holds a 1,300-watt 11-speaker Infinity audio system.
