“Sense of fear” among Ford workers

08/16/2006, 8:31 AM

By admin

Ford workers are growing increasingly concerned about the company’s future, reports the Detroit News. “There is a general sense of fear,” said a manager Monday at Ford headquarters who asked not to be named. “It’s almost as if people are saying ‘I’m not going to kill myself anymore for this company.’ They have been worn down by the constant drumbeat of bad news, the constant threat of job cuts. It’s tough — and I am sure Mark Fields knows it.” Last week, Mr. Fields commented on the growing anxiety at Ford. “Is it a little tense now? Sure,” he said during a dinner with reporters last week in Traverse City. “We’re working to communicate with our employees. I don’t think people are in the dark.”

For blue collar job security: move near a Toyota plant.

People in the sewing trades [my business] didn’t have that option; their jobs went to MEX … not too long after to China … and will move again..when the Chinese get comfortable.

New Rule: “Don’t get too comfortable.”

Maybe the pungent stench of hair gel emanating from Fields drives the smell of fear among Ford workers. Therefore eliminate the problem at its source.

And it’s always the poor, hard-working people who get the shaft. “Sorry bud, but we need to downsize.”

Sigh…when will this bull**** stop?

Ohhh I sure would have a sense of fear for Ford… they are doing the worst of the big three, if not for ANY company out there currently. Being rated next to KIA for satisfaction… THAT’S TERRIBLE! Ford, you can still turn around, but if you don’t do it in the NEAR future then you are doomed.

Good, further proof that the American Revolution that is GM, is destroying the competition. Ford doesn’t stand a chance against the onslaught from GM. They have always played second fiddle to the General.

This is awesome news for us GM fans. Kudos to Rick Wagoner, Bob Lutz and the rest of GM managment for a job well done. You guys rock!

Maybe all those Ford guys would be better served working for a “winner” like General Motors. Not some Loser like Ford Motor co.

“Loser like Ford Motor co.”
Ford is doing a lot better than GM.

Fields is NOT the problem, he’s the answer.

At Ford, they should be VERY afraid! Ford management has no design or engineering direction (for instance, Lincoln..they let Lincoln wither on the vine, and then they come up with this MKS, which looks so generic it is painful!), and then they make all of these 11th hour decisions which hint at either ineptitude or desperation.. Sad, and it is not inspiring confidence in it’s employees, let alone the buying public!

And for all you GM / Generic Motors fans, get over yourselves. General Motors is not doing that much better either. I hope that they both see batter days, but they need to start to get ALL of their costs in line and get back to their core products… a great car with a great design at a great price…dare I say a REAL WORLD CLASS CAR!
