To Paytons point.
Absolutely, the people who got the rebates, got there own money back ,if they pay taxes.

I agree with Amused, I am sure a lot of unsafe metal is off the road, my words.
But at what cost???
There are probably more than a few people who will now have a problem paying the monthly nut on these new vehicle's.
They will be the next group unable to pay the mortgages and other bills on items they did not deserve to have in the first place, because they blame the banks for giving them the money.
It is simple addition and subtraction
You can afford it, god bless you.
Unless you are GOVERMENT-OBAMA MOTORS just whine and we will give you a handout to get you back on your feet, what a joke.

September sales minus C4C will be an eyeopener for some of you.

Did it help these companies going forward, no.
Will they do it again, possibly as long as O and his cronies are around.
They must ,it is there duty, whatever the hell that is.

All you CHEERLEADERS of this program watch as the numbers are released for Sept. and the upcoming next few months.

Once again do not fix something, throw money at it, (HEALTHCARE).
I am sorry, it slipped out.
WATCH as the auto consumer sits on there hands waiting and salivating for the next program.

The numbers do not lie.............

I agree with you that the original point was environmental. I am a used car wholesaler that buys trade ins from new car stores, and I have never seen bigger pieces of crap that were traded in. It was amazing that people actually drove some of these heaps. I think one unintended results of C4C is that these people will have nice new cars now and will actually drive MORE. I can honestly say that the majority of the junk that was traded in was that, junk. I wouldn't want to drive 30 miles in 70 percent of them.

One thing that people who harp on the rebates of C4C forgets is that was our money to begin with. Had the government not stolen it from our paychecks we could have bought a new car a long time ago and help avert this mess.

Lets all relax.

The sales numbers will be out soon enough.

THE NUMBERS DO NOT LIE..............

C4C was a band aid, thats all.
It will now be reflected exactly what people are buying with out a carrot from the goverment.
All it did was to get people into showrooms, that may have made there way there during the last quarter.

I think you've all missed the real point of C4C... it wasn't to"stimulate the economy" or even to help the auto industry... that was just a fairytale the lefties told you to justify spending billions of dollars to achieve a minor reduction in the number of cars on the road that guzzel gas. it was supposed to be environmental.

Hey leftwing, Why the hostility?

I love how you define success for C4C - that $3B that the government set aside to spend got spent, ergo it was successful.

I know, I know. They did it to stimulate the economy, get people spending, etc. That thinking is exactly (ironically) how GM got addicted to incentives that partially helped to bankrupt the company. It would be interesting to see how many potential buyers will now sit on the sidelines waiting for a possible C4C, part deux. In other words, C4C effect in reverse.

By your thinking, should the pending fall-off-a-cliff sales for September - December come as a surprise?

It was a FAIL, LWA. I know you cant help but think government robbing from some and giving to others is always correct, but why dont you stop being so goddamned naive for once. It doesn't take a brainiac to figure out that subsidizing a car sale will lead to more sales, just as subsidizing welfare leads to more losers on the dole, etc. Increasing sales for a month is a BS gesture and clearly fixed not-a-damn-thing with the economy, much like porkulous hasn't and won't, but hey, it made you transfer-payment humpers and the a-hole politicians who cater to you enjoy a national circlejerk for a month.

No, the point was to waste 3 billion tax payer dollars. After all that's what liberals in big government do: talk out of their ass and waste other people's money.

But if C4C only shifted the time period that the cars are purchased, and didn't actually increase the number of cars sold overall, what was the point?

Just my thought, I'm not saying either way...

With that salary cap, I thought all was well in the NHL! Not! Well, I'm rooting for Henrik Sedin since he's on my fantasy team... He was my 4th round pickup, I guess my louie friends didn't see the production from him as his bro will have, but my hopes are high! What can I say about the Blues besides getting in a drunkin fight with Andy McDonald a couple months back. He was all talk and all of 5 foot 6.

On this story... I saw a truck sending a batch of Prius/4Runner and Corollas to a local dealership on the road today and almost threw up at the thought more of these damn things are going to be polluting my eyes on the road.

I didn't see whose it was but there's a gunmetal grey GT-R right outside my window. Oh yeah, and there's an E63 AMG in front of it. These guys make too much money!

No doubts here.

All Cash For Clunkers did was take sales from the next 6 months and give them all to you in one shot.

Just like any other promotion... the people were going to buy anyways, you just gave them extra incentive to buy NOW. Which hurts future numbers.

Interesting article -

DEARBORN, Mich. (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp and Ford Motor Co are likely to outsell General Motors Co in the U.S. market by 2015 -- when industry sales will finally return to levels last seen in 2000, according to an industry forecasting firm.

Faltering Chrysler Group LLC is also expected to lose market share in a recovering market and by 2015 its U.S. sales will be on par with those of surging Hyundai Motor Co , IHS Global Insight said at a presentation Wednesday.

DEARBORN, Mich. (Reuters) – Toyota Motor Corp and Ford Motor Co are likely to outsell General Motors Co in the U.S. market by 2015 — when industry sales will finally return to levels last seen in 2000, according to an industry forecasting firm.

Faltering Chrysler Group LLC is also expected to lose market share in a recovering market and by 2015 its U.S. sales will be on par with those of surging Hyundai Motor Co , IHS Global Insight said at a presentation Wednesday.

Cardemon04... Yes I did see that.. However I sell cars and I reflect on current trends and not last years numbers. Sure last year for the most part was Ramen Noodles and TV dinners but with Ford kicking it into high gear and offering more vehicles it is allowing me to sell more to the customers. Cash for Clunkers I will admit did help out but reflecting on this years numbers I can say that I am eating a little bit more healthier this year.

Also the last three months Ford has consecutively posted higher numbers than last year.

Well, not only is the buying climate at a very cold state, but this statistic takes into account that many dealer lots were pretty bare in the first part of the month, as stated. In fact, that's really the main point. Also, these days, people are used to getting handouts to buy everything from cars to refrigerators. Some time will have to pass for people to forget about waiting with their hands out for the government to grease their palms before they go make a purchase. Finally, the year-over-year monthly sales numbers are still all out of whack. The better gauge will start in October, when the turd really hit the fan in this industry last year. Then you will see how far things have come since then.

Benjamin, while blindly trying to prove a point, maybe you failed to see the part about Ford's slide last September in combination with GM's decent sales last September making the deficit look larger than it was. Although, you probably don't worry much about statistics that are contradictory to your point, do you?

this is bad news... no matter how expected it was.

Read the post....
Death of the Silverado pickup for what? 4 1/2 months while the Ford Pickup is increasing production? What is up with that? Can you tell me Need more oil for GM?

Early reports suggest Ford will fare the best of the Big Three, slipping only 5 percent. However, Ford had one of biggest sales slides of September 2008 – dropping 36.3 percent – which improves the look of this September’s results.

General Motors, on the other hand, had a relatively decent September last year, slipping only about 16 percent. Because of the modest slide, GM’s September 2009 sales are expected to tumbled 45 percent. Chrysler’s sales are expected to decline by 42 percent.

What does it say Need more Oil for GM?? "Ford will fare best of the Big Three"?
and GM?? "GM’s September 2009 sales are expected to tumbled 45 percent"

FYI = Tumbled as defined...
fall down, as if collapsing;
topple: cause to topple or tumble by pushing
crumble: fall apart;
throw together in a confused mass
fall suddenly and sharply; "GM Sales tumbled in 2009"
suffer a sudden downfall, overthrow, or defeat
an acrobatic feat of rolling or turning end over end
spill: a sudden drop from an upright position; "he had a nasty spill on the ice"

Where is Need more oil for GM on this??

Where are you??

Knock, knock??

"pulled many shoppers into the market that would have otherwise waited until the end of the year to buy."

I remember several people predicting this because of C4C... So what has the government accomplished?
